I don't look the chrome grille, too flashy. Don't mind the side molding and handles as much

I prefer stainless steel. Think DeLorean or a new Rolls Royce. I'm much more bothered by disgusting wooden interiors, like a new Rolls Royce, also in balsawood if you prefer.

Chrome is good. It resists rust unlike non-stainless steel, resists UV unlike plastic, and is stronger and harder than most materials.

I don't like when chrome is used as a status symbol, since chrome is still cheap, and it ends up being "trim", a collection of chrome bits rather than chrome parts. People will chrome nearly everything with a questionable purpose, like making merry with the shiny spraypaint. American cars are prone to this disease.

I found this thread because I am considering a chrome FX50 grille.

I like chrome when it is done tastefully (the 2006+ FX45 has just the right amount of chrome IMO). Japanese and European manufacturers tend to use the right amount of chrome on cars whereas American manufacturers think the definition of luxury and class is chrome. It is unreal how much chrome is found on American vehicles.

I guess american companies thought they were bringing back the old times when chrome was a must have in all kinds of vehicles. Which they failed miserably at. People just walked away. One of many reasons people bought more foreign vehicles.
