Do not get you car serviced on a friday!!!!!

Or just avoid Sheehy Nissan in Waldorf altogether for maintenace on your Infiniti.

Firstly, they quoted me $499.00 for the 60k service, 2 days prior to me bringing it in. I dropped off the fx, they called about 2 hours later to inform me that the price would be $599.00. Ok, i didn't make an issue out of it, as Infiniti charges $1400.00 for the 60k service.

I drop off the fx early friday morning (big mistake) & then pick up the car later friday and was disappointed that they hadn't even washed her. Upon driving, i noticed that she wasn't running as 'spry' & as 'punchy' on her feet when i went to accellerate.

I had the nagging feeling to lift up the hood and try to do my own inspection but i kept putting if off.

On Monday, something told me to act on my urge and take a look up under the hood. To my dismay, those two pieces that connect to the air filter box up front were laying at the bottom, on the splash guard, underneath the oil filter. They had just missed getting caught up in the two belts.

Took the car back on Tuesday, spoke to the service adviser who went back to talk to his manager, and all i got out of it was a free oil change on my next visit? :eek.: Next visit? Really?

I'll say this about Infiniti. I read here on the forum about the dashboard bubbling and contacted Infiniti of Alexandria who replaced it for free (about 2 months ago). While they were working on the inside of my car on the dashboard, one of their Techs put a whole on my armrest. I spoke with my service advisor (John Connor) who had a real piss poor attitude about it but eventually & reluctantly ordered me a new set and put it on.

The servicing is grossly overpriced but i suppose the attention to detail with Infiniti commands the $1400.00 fee. You really pay for what you get and if you cut corners on maintance you'd better be mechanically inclined to pick up the slack.

Another good example of how learning to do it yourself will save you the trouble. I literally do most of the maintenance myself using DIY posted here. It's actually very very easy. I think changing brakes is the most over-rated thing. I was quoted close to 800 bucks for front and rear brake service. I thought it was crazy so I read a DIY and did it myself. Instead of resurfacing and changing pads, I replaced everything and only cost me 350 (all parts). If i just did the brakes, it would've cost me $100 for parts. It was a lot easier than opening up the plenum to install a plenum spacer. I can do each axle (rotors and pads) in 30 minutes now.

I guess my point is... try it yourself once. I sort of enjoy doing my own maintenance since I can get away from wife and kids  The DIY posted here is very very descriptive.

Honestly I'm not surpised.

Oh and of coarse they don't wash your car for you, it's Nissan not Infiniti.

Actually in my opinion Infiniti is alot different than Nissan in terms of service. When I go in to Infiniti for service, they always put plastic over my seats and floors to make sure it doesn't get grease on it from the techs, and they always vacuum the car for me when I come in for an oil change. I don't let them wash it though as I'm very meticulous about who wash's my car and what kind of products they use to wash it. No need for any swirls on my baby =]

I'm not at all mechanically inclined, in the least bit. I haven't even really invested in tools to do things other than a basic oil change. I take things apart, reassemble them, only to find that i have many unnessecary pieces left over.

Also, with a 2 year old son, my time is limited. The weekends fly by way too fast to try and dedicate to some car.

I just find that it's less of a hassle to pay for the work to be done right, the first ttime, sans the odd experience that does happen from time to time.

599 (parts and labor) to replace the oil, oil filter, air filter, cabin filter, drive belts, coolant/flush, auto tranny fluid, diff fluid, radiator cap, and rotate tires was actually not too shabby. Quality of service is the same everywhere except Mercedes and obviously higher end marques in Houston.

Man i hate when infiniti washes my fx, i tell the don't wassssh my fx they go and they wash it... They have very good service but man such a bad job washing cars, im like dont even bother washing my fx lol

...and yet they washed my fx so well, i thought that they had detailed her. It might've been a preliminary superb job to suck me in, but i was only there for a recall on our dashboards.

....wait. Nissan isn't exactly 'Oil Can Henry'. (some backyard operation)

I summed it up to it 'being a friday thing' where (it was actually a holiday weekend too) it's pay day, and the employees are just coasting til 5:00. I mean, we all do it to some extent, lol.

Infiniti puts the plastic over my seats & floors as well (the least they could do) when i've came in these last 2 times. They washed it initially, maybe due to limited time, for them not washing it the second time.

I think every man that really like their vehicle should invest some time and learn how to do regular maintance on their vehicle.. Cause I have taken my FX to different dealership and I have yet to find the one that leave me saying I'll def come back.

So if you don't like the job they did.. Just take some time learning about your FX and invest some money on tools.. In the long run you are just simply helping yourself.. In case you get stranded on the side of the road..

I don't understand how a "man" can call another man(road assistance) to replaced their spared tired!!! Are you serious!!

Anyways wish u good luck next time..

Duly noted Rubare.

I've been fortunate, thus far, to not have any real mechanical failure out've the fx. (65,000) I've tried looking for a Chilton's manual on our vehicle, but have yet to see one. Knowing how silly i am, i would most likely misdiagnois the problem anyway, coupled with trying to replace parts that didn't even need replacing in the first place. I use to try an fool around on my previous car and more often than not i would replace the alternator, when the starter would be the cause. Other times i would replace the starter and it would be the alternator that was shot. I would try & replace both and the culprit would be due to a weak battery. I learned two valuable lessons. Leave Autozone parts completely alone and any part/ parts that come with a lifetime warranty, steer clear of, as they will continually fail you.

And no, im not above using triple A for a tire change (especially with a 2 year old in tow) i mean, that's why you have the service available, lol.

I would definitely have to agree with the awful service of washing the vehicles! I had left my car for an oil change, and when I picked it up, it was dirtier than when I had left it! It was spotted everywhere --> showing that they didn't dry my FX! I mean wtf?!?!? I made it very clear to them to not wash the car if I already came with it clean. I'm not coming in for a "car dirty"! (opposite of car wash)

Feel free to wash mine, lol. Im not that particular. My fx is a 2005 (Obsidian Black) so the black isn't that 'new' dark black rich texture anymore. It's sort've dry looking. Infiniti seemed to have brought a nice luster to it when they washed it.

I can see if the weather is inclement (rainy/snowy) then forgo the wash, however, if i've spent over $400.00 or $500.00, a wash should be in order. Is that too much to ask?

everytime dealer (ray catena) takes my car for anything that requires more then 2 hours they wash it. VERY pleased with their wash too... Ray catena also owns aston martin/benz/porsche is which next door to infiniti, so my guess is the washing crew is the same.

Well I guess is a personal choice.. It seems that since your FX is a 05 and the color is not shiny anymore you don't care about getting it wash at the dealership.. I mean if they do a good job without damaging the paint that's great.. But most of us that refused to get our fx washed at the dealership is because they do a horrible job.. Water spots everywhere, minor scratches here and there.. And trust me most of us know our FX well to know when it gets a new scratch. Just imagine taking your fx lots of time to the dealership and getting that kind of service.. Yes you spend $400-$500 on repairs but if that kind of service keep going you might have to spend $$$$ on painting and paint repair shops..

My fx was previously a leased vehicle. I purchased her with 53,000 miles on the odometer. There were a few nicks & scratches on her already, ehh, i can live with that.

Personally, im just thankful to barely be able to make payments on her. I was so pressed to get her, as i've been fascinated with the fx for the last two years. My credit is horrific so ithe dealership barely financed me and stuck me with a $596.00 monthly note (with $1,000 down that i borrowed from my dad). I wanted her so bad (my previous car was a 2001 volkswagen beetle with 174,000 on her. They only gave me $500.00 for) that i couldn't sign the dotted line quick enough. I was fortunate enough to only have to make 1 $596.00 payment and have my dad get her refinanced at Andrews Federal Credit Union, (4.99%) down to a $474.00 note. It's not great, but it's not killing me either.

I ranted all that above to say that yes, i can live with a dealership car wash, lol.
