Do drilled rotors crack?

^ good choice....

I've been eying R1concepts. That is what Tim has too....I'm not really a fan of stoptech even though they and r1concepts I believe are parent companies. How do you like them edmarin? Those the premium slotted right?

Even after all the discussions, I'm still thinking drilled...I don't know...I need to make a decision pretty quick though. I drove Handy Andy's ride and didn't mind the noise (maybe kind of like it) but didn't go fast enough to know for sure. But dam love the look. And thinking so what 2% chance of cracking after it getting old, so then get new rotors again.

But interesting thing is that a r1concept rep told me to get slotted, not drilled.

I had mine installed with drilled in the front and drilled and slotted at the rear for 2 weeks. Since my FX takes my two kids back and forth from daycare everyday, I drive it very "conservatively". In these two weeks, I didn't feel any difference between the blank and the drilled/slotted rotors. However, the slotted/drilled rotors do look better and that could be the only advantage for people having a driving style like me. Just my 2 cents.

Know about drilled rotor may crack overtime, but I just can't resist the look. I'm happy with my decision!

My cross-drilled rotors are somewhat noticeable soundwise, more so when wet. I thought it was a normal characteristic of having a BBK. But I too, cannot resist the look so I am happy with my decision too.

^ I'm pretty sure I saw Andrew's cracked at least in one spot...looks like a tiny horizontal fracture coming off one of the holes, but didn't get a good enough look for sure to make sure it wasn't pad and to sand off to make sure it wasn't. It was the passenger front I was looking at.

Yeah I totally love the look. Your FXs look amazing drilled. Plus, you bed your brakes right? At what speed and how many times? Just curious since that puts a lot of strain on and your rotors are fine....

but I don't know if your rotors are drilled or if they came with holes already when made with the bbk that you guys have?

I don't think they were fractures, just the wear spots from the pads. The brakes were bedded. Did like 5-6 runs from 60mph.

I've always heard 8-10 from 60 to about 10 or 5 if you can without coming to a stop....and have heard that usually the first time you don't get a complete coat on the rotor, so you do it a second time after a 5 minute cool down...and do that when you start hearing squeeks or whatever....otherwise you don't have enough pad on the rotors....but I don't know how it works with drilled.

Ive had my drilled and slotted rotors for a little over a year now with no problems. They are a little noisy though but not that bad and they look great. Performance wise they're basically the same as oem blanks.
