DIY: Replacing AC Amplifier

I checked with my service manager and he confirmed that the AC Amp is reprogrammed under the recall and this will not fix the cold start issue. He said I should replace it prior to getting work done on the recall. FYI..
 
As far as I know, those that had the problem and replaced with the AC Amplifier, the problem is gone.
 
Ok, I think ill order one this week! Was a little embarrassing the other day having one of the nicest cars at work and it took three cranks to get her to start and when it did it sputtered for about 5 seconds but felt like a minute, lol! Hopefully it'll do the trick
 
Just pop the gas once it starts and it should idle normal after that. I like to play it off like it's a built engine or something, and that's why it's hard to start and then sounds cammed once it goes. :tongue:

Just make sure you get your battery checked out if you haven't already, typically this issue is tied to one or the other. If you're battery is good, then this is most likely your culprit.

Lol yeah mine always fires first try, but it does this crazy sputtering high idle. I had a friend fire it up while I listened to the exhaust and it sounds nuts for the first 5 or so seconds.

Just wanted to update that a little over a month after installation and with temps setting record lows, the issue can officially be called resolved for my instance.

Part ordered and has been sitting at Canadapost for the past two days with no delivery..%%$$^&*. I will try to pick it up and install this weekend. Will update on the status. Funny thing is every time I act on this cold start issue, my FX starts up nicely. This was one of the reasons dealer could not isolate the issue. Every time I took it to the dealer, it would start up fine. Same thing now. Since I ordered the part, it's been starting strong. I swear it is possessed :devil:
 
The only times that I would get the issue was first thing in the morning. I could walk out after work and it would start up like a champ. The only thing that I could figure was that sitting out in the sun heated up the cabin and affected whatever was causing the issues on the AC Amp.
 
I installed the AC Amp on my 2007 FX. So far I've had no issues with starting. However, the weather up here has been fairly warm. It's been in the 25F to 40F range, which is not cold at all for us :canada:. I'll wait for a really cold spell to confirm. But, I think the problem might be fixed. The install took about 20 minutes. Had to get the wife to help and hold the top part of the centre stack while I removed the AC Amp and installed the new one. Removing the three cable connectors on the rear of the AC Amp was a pain.

Btw. I bought the part from OrderInfinitiParts.com. The part was $314.88 plus $45 international shipping. Still cheaper than what the local dealer charges.
