DIY Oil Change Question?

I did my first DIY Oil Change recently and I neglected to change the crush washer. I didn't even know about the darn thing until I read something on another forum.

Should I be worried? I don't believe there are any leaks....

I haven't changed the crush washer the last couple of times and have no problems. You SHOULD be ok.

I'm gonna try the fumoto valve thingy. Looks like it'll save me the trouble replacing crush washer

I just found out about the crush washer also. I will be changing my own oil next. Already have the 5 qt. jug, just need a filter.

sometimes, if your nice the parts guy will "give" you some washers, or else they will sell them to you.

I was lucky and Metro Infiniti gave me some. I also went and bought some from a NIssan dealer prior to installing the valve. BTW, you wont need that crush washer with the valve.

It's the washer that goes on the drain plug for the oil.

I put a new one every time I change the oil in my FX. When I had a G35 lease changed it only once in 3 years and it was fine.

I have my FX for over four years now, always changed my own oil, never replaced the washer...no problems...

You're fine as long as there are no leaks from the drain plug.

+ 1 never changed washer. I do use some thread sealer on the washer area.

I don't change mine either. I do ALL oil changes and make sure the bolt is on secure and no leaks. I also think that tread/plumber/teflon tape is a better solution than a washer for leaks.
