DIY LED MAP LIGHTS 1st gen

Waited a month to get these from china. 20 led smd board. I didn't want those 12 or 15 led ones that they usually sell on ebay.

This took me all of 15 minutes.
Get a small flat head screw driver and pop of the cover.

Pop out the factory bulb.

Insert the new led bulb adapter.

Then you plug that adapter into the led board.

After, peel off the 3M doubled sided tape and stick into place. Make sure you test them out.

Reassemble by lining up the clips and push up and you will hear a click of the lense snapping into place.

Will have night pics today. These things are bright. Gona do the rest of the interior.

Nice improvement in light quality and output, but not sure about the fact you can see the grid when lights are off.
 
Thats what i was thinking. But those festoon led bulbs in that size, their light output blows. I can sacrifice that grid look up there. How often do i look up there. Barely.

Looks good. I would love to see the night pics as well. I ordered a bunch of LED lights from ijdmtoy.com. I thought there 12 LED lights would be enough for the map lights but I still want to see these at night. The might be perfect for the rear hatch too.
 
Do you remember the sellerID that you picked these up from?

I can only find these:

But I'm not a big fan of the connectors and would prefer the 'white' plugs like yours has.

so what can you do in something lil smaller? like regular leds? where you able to find another link that would fit? i know you the ones i sent you, you told me they wouldnt fit. damn good thing you told me too lol

Check the link, the guy sells the ones that fit in the other lights.
