DIY Change Rear Brake Pads

C-clamp is all you need to push the piston back! I found a 9" C-clamp work the best.

Fx has literally the simplest brake mechanism. You will actually enjoy working on this car. The reason i said you need a wrench rather than a socket and ratchet is because the rear has a suspension part that will block you using a ratchet.

I know this is an older thread, but you just saved me a boat load of time. Dealer wanted about $700 for front (with rotors) and about $600 for rear shoes. Ugh. Had heard there might be an oddball tool needed to turn the rear piston (instead of a C clamp) to compress it. Glad to see that's NOT the case. You know what I'll be doing tomorrow! Thanks a ton! (And about $1K!)

When installing H&R springs last weekend, I found one of the lug nuts cross threaded on the rear driver's side. After getting the lug nut off, had to remove the caliper, the rotor, and remove the lug bolt...did all of it with a wrench, prybar and hammer...super simple to work on.

After knocking the stud out, did you just use the lug nuts to pull the new one in? That's what I always did on my last Nissan, but wasn't sure if there is a new way.

Just curious, are there shims for the rear pads that need to be replaced/can be reused/or there are no shims? I am getting ready to order some factory rear pads but when I look at the diagram it looks like there are 2 flat piece which resemble shims to be. I wanted to clarify before ordering. Thanks in advance.
