Disappointed with my fx50s

My 2009 fx50s just isnt doing it for me anymore. Rides like crap, transmission shifts like crap, poor throttle response. My gf has a 13 g37x and it is so much more enjoyable to drive. I know im comparing a car to an suv but I'm tired of the choppy throttle rough ride and crappy shifting 7speed trans. Really thinking about selling it, i need to get back into a car asap. Can anyone relate?

maybe you need to reset the adaptive transmission ?? how long have you had it? mine is an 09 drives fine but not as fun as my previous X5 4.8i. I always put on the sports mode though love the stiff suspensions, never like boaty ride as my ex ML63

I'm happy with the sporty ride quality.
However the throttle/gearbox behaviour annoys quite a lot. It's too jerky a lot of the time. I run a 3.0 diesel Mercedes vito which is much smoother on the throttle and gear change.
I wondered if a trans oil change would help?

Isn't there a TSB or something for the transmission? They had to reprogram it because of bad shifting? I'd look into that if you haven't had it done already. I don't know how much a fluid change would help; I've never noticed any difference on any car I've changed fluid on.

Doesn't the G37 have the same auto as the FX? It's the same 7 spd.

It sounds like you need to trade it in and get you something else as soon as you can, Im new to infiniti, and I like it thus far. I've got the new QX70.

Same here with my '12 LE....had her 2 years now....fun is wearing off. My commute from SI to Queens is killin me!

Would love to get into something else (Audi Q5 perhaps) but anything that's "good" is so damn expensive!

Got a QX60 loaner after I dropped off my 50 for a small warranty item. Miss the 50 already as the QX60 handling and feel are way too soft and I don't like the FWD bias.

I can defiantly relate as far as the sluggish 7 speed transmission. My moms 08 G35 drove like a dream especially with response time (5-speed AT)

If only the 09 and up FX had the same transmission it would literally be a dream car!

other then the tranny i still think the FX is a great SUV but lacks the performance part.

I love my 5.0. I agree with the tranny. Deffinitely sucks. Unless i do shifting with the paddles or just floor it it doesnt really shift great. Especially with the lagging 2nd gear wich actually gets thrown directly into 4rth gear right after 1st? Whyy!?!? Its really sad. I still love it though. Wish it shifted like my girls g37. Or wish someone came up with a flash for the tcm to change the way it shifts.

Did you ever get trans issues ironed out?

I have read where the trans "learns" your driving style with an emphasis (in non-sport mode) on better mileage. Such that if you have been driving conservatively for awhile (like commuting in traffic for work) and then want to jump on the gas, the tranny may be sluggish.

There really aint any problems. Its just the way infiniti made it. & this particular transmission doesnt really learn your driving style. The only way to fix it is through software or by modifying the valve body or gearing wich is a PITA

Interesting, I'm going to try upgrading my open differential for the 3.692:1 VLSD. Let's see if that wakes her up!
