2006 FX35
Hello Everyone,

I'm about the change my differential fluid for my 2006 fx 35. I saw in the manual recommended API GL5 80w90. I was wondering what's the best fluid to use on our differential? Does the dealership carry the differential fluid (oem)? Is it okay to go with 75w90 or just stay with 80w90?

Thank you for your input:tup:

When I changed my diff fluid I went with syntetic RP 75-90 and I haven't had any problems or lost in performance.. That was almost a year ago.. I probably will do another fluid change soon.

Amsoil synthetic here. I believe the oil weight is oem spec.

I'm gonna go with the Mobil 1 75w-90 since the most common one out there easy to find. I noticed that there's also LS 75w-90 as well. Does our differential require the LS or the regular just fine? Thank You for your help

I did mobil1 75W90 differential fluid last year. Nothing yet to complain about.

Make sure u buy the fluid pump. Its hard otherwise to get the oil in the pumpkin.

It's a fact that oils lose their chemical bindings, only for that reason it needs changing.
Besides that if you remove the oil you will also remove all solids what is floating around in the oil.
That's why most of the times you'll find a milage and a amount of months that specific oil needs to be changed.

I have a couple questions guys: should I go with the Mobil 1 synthetic 70w90 or stick to the service manual and use Valvoline 80w90 durablend synthetic? . And, how much should I buy in order to do both diffs.?

AWD will have the front differential and transfer case.
Transfer case <> Transmission.

doesn't AWD have a front and rear differential and transfer case? Sorry if stupid question....because I thought 2 differentials and a transfer case oil had to be changed.
