Hi forum!

My first post. Desperately need help. I've searched to no end on the forums but still perplexed. Let me give some background. I'm based in the UAE and have a used FX 35 2008. I purchased this 2 years ago and prior to purchasing original owner explained the dashboard had stopped functioning. Speedometer stuck at 60 kmh. Revs a little random. No driving issues experienced. I purchased this as it had a full service history from the dealer in Abu Dhabi.

Fast forward 8 months ago and the car every morning without fail after driving at some speed would have the battery and hazard light flicker upon breaking. It would flicker at random. On rarer occasions which have increasingly become more regular, the abs, vdc and slip lights would flicker at the same time rendering the car in limp mode which have scared the life out of me driving here in the Mid East with this.

I've taken this twice to dealer and run it through the errors. Mechanics can't find a clear reason and have mentioned this may be caused due to some suspension issues. They're not willing to do the work and guarantee it will fix the issue and I've expressed my concern it may become a black hole.

My biggest concern is that there is A problem but don't have the confidence in the dealer to actually know what's going on.

Any advice?

ABS, VDC, & Slip light: Check your brake fluid level. It must be low.
Battery: Have to check the battery terminals and making sure they're nice clean & tight?

Thanks for the reply and suggestion. OK, here's a followup question - would these two things cause car to go into this limp mode?! Because that's my biggest concern.

When I had this issue.. Limp mode and all gauges lit... Dealer said it was a grounding issue with the 2 grounds behind the dash. At the same time they found my throttle body to be bad. They changed the throttle body and never had the issue again.

So check the 2 grounds behind the dash... And have the throttle body checked

Thanks for the suggestions! Did the limp mode kick in at random?!

Yes... One time at the dealer I had an oil change. They left the car running so I could drive off. The car went into limp mode right there as I tried to leave. That's when they found the bad throttle body.... But claimed it as the grounds.

Ahhh... thanks for that. Did it cost much?!

Throttle body was replaced under power train warranty. The dealer wanted $1100 to do the grounds as they said they had to take out the dash. Luckily my problem was the tb... I wasn't going to pay $1100 to fix some grounds. After tb replacement, FX has never gone back into limp mode.

Seems that throttlebodies on these cars are very sensitive. My dealer wanted $2k to replace mine; but I had taken my car to them about 14 times with same symptoms while it was under warranty - every time they said no fault found. When the warranty ran out and I took it back for the same issues as before they diagnosed it within 30minutes and said "both TBs have to be replaced". I was livid; gave them a big FU and went to the president of the dealership to get it resolved. They replaced both at no cost.

I'm not in a good position as the car is out of warranty! So I'm desperate to get the car fixed so it doesnt become a risk while driving (limp mode) for a year or so. After that period I'd consider buying a brand new car with warranty etc. Don't think I'd consider an Infiniti again.
