What's up ladies and gents, it's been a while. Hope all is well. I recently took my FX in for servicing and they supposedly replaced my in cabin air filter. I should have probably done it myself but since I was already in for servicing they didn't charge me anything extra to replace it. I have never changed that filter on my own but I did go in behind them today to see if they actually changed it or not. I'm not quite sure what it looks like brand new. Is it supposed to be brand spanking white? I took a few pics because it has theses maroon colored stains on the top that look like old stains to me but I'm not sure if that's normal since I've never seen a new one. The bottom looks clean but again that depends how new it supposed to look. Here are some pics........ opinions?

That doesnt look like a new filter. Mine was quite white. Do you smoke in the car? Brown spots are usually caused by cigarette smoke.
You could also search for the in-cabin filter's picture online and compare.

That's BS you should call the dealer out on this and see what they say.

Nope I don't smoke at all and it's only 3 days old so if t's new, those stains would have to be an OEM thing, which is why I'm asking.

I think it's somewhat common for things on the multi-point check/replace list to be overlooked. I always had to remind the dealer to not forget to change the wiper blades... AND the back one.
They always seemed to forget the wipers.

That would be acceptable if all I went in there for was a 27 point inspection. I actually went to the dealership because my car cut off on me twice today before while driving. The changing of the in cabin filter was something that was specifically requested. The servicing that includes changing the in cabin air filter wasn't due for quite some time but the in cabin air filter hasn't been getting changed according to that schedule so the in cabin filter was due to be changed.

I just left the dealer and the maroon / brown colored stains is deodorizer spray which they use on the filters because customers have still been complaining about the in cabin smell (which we are all familiar with) after a filter change. I had to laugh because I was about to give the service manager an ear full. Luckily I was calm enough to speak with the parts supervisor and service tech first. I told them since most dealers don't do that type of thing, they should make customers aware of that so DIY'ers like myself don't have a WTF moment when they come across it. The funny thing is that the first thing I thought when I saw it was that it looks like the spray you spray into a K&N filter minus the oil.
