DDM Tuning HID Fog Light Kit

seems like an easy upgrade for sure, i'm tempted to get some 5000k fogs to match the stock lights. Would like to see what kind of service stu gets first though.
When he gets back from his trip that is

stocks are 4300

I still have the defective bulb, because I wanted my HID fogs for the trip and didn't have enough time to send them back.

I have had many DDM Tuning (aka Apexcone) HID kits. Never had a defective kit once. It is hit or miss though as these are mass produced. They are made to Jim Powells' own specs though...he's the owner of Apexcone/DDM Tuning. The Raptor is his own brand, made in the USA (supposedly) and is cheaper!

Placed my order at DDM!

DDM 35W & 55W Slim Ballast HID Kit
Options:
Wattage : 35 Watt
Bulb Type : H8
Bulb Color : 4500K

I too am excited!
I just could not decide on bulb color 4500k or 5000k
I hope I don't regret not getting 5000k

whats going on with your set?
did you get them returned yet?
Nope, i went on my trip and I assume the shipping label expired. They never got back to me when I said I would have to ship them after the 10 day period. Maybe one day I will go in there and remount the ballasts and see if I can remove the bulbs to return them.

got the ddm kit yesterday and today I am trying to get them on. Nothing!
There is only two ways to connect them, tried both and I get nothing. I'm wondering if both bulbs or ballast are defective but what are the chances of both being bad?

Ok, I think I have it figured out. Based on the pic below, remove the wire from 1 to 2, and connect from oem connector to point 1, from there it just goes through the ballast to the bulb as connected now, and remove the grommet that holds the unnecessary wire. Correct me if wrong.

Here's what I found, that connection right above #1, (female end of ballast) if you try connecting that directly to the stock male plug on FX, the FX plug doesn't slide deep enough into it to even make a connection. I believe if shaven down it will reach but i'm not trying that yet since I might have to return these. On the DDM harness by #2 (female end) is not as deep so the FX plugs right into it, thats why this end worked for Stu I believe. So this set of wires in the mesh is more of an adaptor and not an extension.

Anyways, back to me me me!
It's not working...
I tried one at a time and both at a time.
with headlights on I waited a bit & then switched fogs still nothing.
took ddm off one side and replaced with stock to make sure I didn't blow a fuse and the stock came on.

There is no way to get the wires crossed as the harness has a small guide on it.
Am I missing something?

oh yeah, I even tried it with the engine turned on.
I have an '06 Stu got it working with his '07 I think we both use the H8, I know I do

heh as mentioned in post #48 flip it. This worked how ever I left it the same on the #1 connection and flipped #2 side. Either one flipped works.

I ordered the 4500k and they look WAAAY whiter than my 4300k headlights. They almost make my headlights look yellow now. Is this because the fogs are newer or just the different brand. I haven't ran them yet for a long time to see how the two change after being on for a while.

I would say it's worth every penny, love the HID fogs

Does anyone know if 3000k hids are illegal? I'm debating whether to get 3k or 6k... a lot of people already have 6k and i was thinking of doing the 3k yellow look in my fogs

I didn't do research but I was always under the impression that HID kits were not street legal. I could be wrong. But if you're refering to the 3000K temp, I think you're fine because some cars have fogs near that color temp. You're more likely to get a ticket for a 12000K setup vs. A 6000K/3000K setup.

Hyme -

I'm glad that worked for you. Differences in bulb brightness can be due to several factors. Bulb brands, age, projector vs. fog housing, etc. You should just buy replacement bulbs for the headlights to see if that helps match it better. They sell them cheap at DDM

don't think the 3000K fogs are illegal, but not sure about 3000K in the headlights. I have a 6000/3000 setup and I think its beautiful :.smile:
