Ok, I want to start this thread because I want it to be specifically about this kit. I have looked at pictures from other kits and it was harder because they looked different. I tried to install my HID fogs today and I couldn't get them to light up for whatever reason. The directions that come with them are crap and have all these random wires. I was wondering if anyone who has these knows how to wire them correctly, or maybe mine just have something wrong with them?

That's the kit, and if you click on the pic it makes it bigger. I'm 99% sure that picture is exactly what mine looks like. Thanks for the help. I know other people recently purchased this, and I hope any info can help them in the install also.

there not difficult. the extra harnesses & plugs are because there making use of the factory headlight bulb plug inside of a headlight housing, but then running it outside the capsule to the ballast, then back into the headlight for the bulb, supposed to dril a hole for the grommet in the headlight capsule... just cut the grommet off & remove the unecissary wires, you'll wind up having just 2 wires going into the ballast itself & then 2 out o the bulb... it looks intimidating all bundled up & going back & forth through the grommet but once you strip it all down it's simple..

Thanks John. If I get a pic of the actual one and label the connectors like 1, 2, 3, etc. could you tell me something like 1 to 2 to ballast to 3 to bulb?

trust me, once you cut the grommet off & lay all the wiring spread out it'll be very easy to figure out, but if you have any questions then sure, lmk

Ok, I think I have it figured out. Based on the pic below, remove the wire from 1 to 2, and connect from oem connector to point 1, from there it just goes through the ballast to the bulb as connected now, and remove the grommet that holds the unnecessary wire. Correct me if wrong.

correct. if your factory plug plugs into point one then your plug & play... if not, then you can just cut a little past that plug of the harness that will be discarded between 1& 2 & then tap that plug into your fx harness...

this is only 2 wire connections, red is + & black is of course -

ok thanks. I'll try that whn I get home and take it all apart again. I wonder why it didn't work unless the wire from 1-2 affects it.

Nice, thread very helpful for someone like myself soon.
:)

Oh yea, and post pics!

the wire from 1-2 is just an extension, if you plugged power into the empty plug at 2 the way it sits then it still should work... if + & - are reversed you'll get nothing though, shouldn't damage anything just won't light...

Ok good, I read something about the DDM kits on other sites where people said the way it fit the best was actually backwards from the way it needed to fit. I will just remove that one wire completely and go from there. Not sure I want to take apart the fender well again, so I may do it tomorrow.

Here it is all hooked up, and still nothing. I tried flipping the connector and trying the other ballast and light. Any ideas to troubleshoot from here? And who has this kit who might able to give some advice?

what bulb type did you order and did you get the 35W or 55W?
Would the 55W work without melting anything?

i dont have the kit stu but...

you might want to check your fuses. Installed new headlights for my brother in his lex. They didnt turn on because a fuse blew somehow

Make sure you have power where you think you do, test them straight to the battery to confirm the lights work, probably blew a fuse like patrick said...

Great Success! Apparently you do need that extra wire John :dontknow: But I went through and wired it all, and checked all the positives and negatives were correct, and bam, let there be light!

congrats stu! Glad you got it all worked out. Now time to get those on the whip and take some nice pics

I can't figure out what that extra wire you have that is not have hooked up?

one plug goes directly into where you disconected the stock bulb for the fogs. Then another plug goes into the ballast. Two plugs go into the bulb (blue red).

When you turn the lights on do you hear a buzzing from the ballast? Make sure all connectors are nice and tight. Take them all apart and reinstall them.

Basically it should look the same as this:

Never mind you got it.... let there be light!

That buzz for me was because I forgot to remove the protective plastic casing for the HID fogs and it melted while I was testing. Luckily I was able to cut away the melted casing and preserve the bulbs.
