Dat 10K!

Thanks, yeah I saw that one. I'm a little worried because I think I saw the same one on my350, but it sold already.

ART pipes are arguably the best mod vs. HFC or test pipes. I'm getting the HFC attachment to the y-pipe to take care of not having cats/HFC's.

congrats on 10K+ . Im still enjoying my Nismo, going to keep it unless I sell my car or get an offer I cant refuse lol
Describe this offer you can't refuse...

"if you have to ask, you cant afford it" j/k Im really too busy and lazy to remove the exhaust right now. you'll find one on my350z

Ha. Make sure you get the corded one. Nothing worse then running outta battery juice during stealth exhaust removal....

I'm too lazy too research - what's the difference between ART pipes and test pipes?
Helmhotlz resonator.

Helmholtz resonators were the solution to these tangential waves. By properly tuning the Helmholtz resonator to the frequency of the tangential mode you could either magnify or eliminate the shockwave.

They're essentially advanced straight pipes. Typical straight pipes simply replace the catalytic converters with simple pipes (i.e. absolutely no resistance or emissions control), ART pipes have specially tuned Helmholtz resonance chambers built into them to 1) eliminate unwanted frequencies that cause rasp or droning in the exhaust note and 2) actually help the exhaust flow, they are supposed to offer more power and torque than either High Flow Cats or Straight Pipes. Sound and emissions will be higher than HFCs.

Whoop, came in late on this.

Haha yeah Tony was talking about them when I met him a couple years ago before they came out. It's so cool to listen to him explain stuff.

Helmhotlz resonator.

Interesting placement. Is that supposed to eliminate the rasp? After my HFC experience (very raspy, moderately smelly) there's no way I'd roll cat-less. I felt a small power gain with the HFC's but in now way was it worth the sound. I could however, probably handle the smell alone. Do they make a resonated hfc?

They don't make any other cat replacement pieces, but their y-pipe comes with either a straight pipe, resonator, or HFC attachment. That's why I wanted to go with the HFC attachment on top of the ART pipes.

I'm not sure now what I'll be doing because Tony mentioned using a Shockwave system, which is the full exhaust. I'm waiting to make sure he understands that this is for an FX and would have to be modified.

If I had the chance to do the custom exhaust deal over again I would do each section individually and the cats last. I think that approach would have saved me at least one resonator swap.
