i had/have a problem with water getting into my car which i gave update here:
QX70 09-17 - Water in drivers side floor mat

It looks like the water may be affecting something. Out here in Lagos, Nigeria i do not know anyone that's experienced with Infinity that i can confidently give the car to take a proper look and im hoping i haven't made a stupid decision buying this qx70.

The issue:

When i start the car the following lights come on:

When i hit put the car in reverse it gets weirder, more lights come on along with the headlamps. the AC goes off and the fan kicks in on full blast and the dashboard doesn't even show "R" sometimes.

When i try to drive, it doesn't shift smoothly to gear 2. it just revs up to about 3500rpm then jerks into gear 2.

To make it all even stranger to me, if i drive a few meters.. say 500 m
The orange "key" light goes off and after that if i turn off the car and turn it back on, it drives normal and all the lights go off except the drift and IBA which had been diagnosed earlier as a fault from steering angle sensor. The car stays driving normally till i turn it off and leave it parked for a while and start then its back to christmas :(

i thought the issue with the key light was the key battery, i changed the battery already but it still continues.

im not sure if related but since i got the car i noticed the reverse camera was switched off from the diagnostic menu and when i turn it on all i get is a blue screen and the steering position lines don't turn.

It is very likely that water has gotten into several of the computers inside the car. I suggest that you disconnect the battery, remove the plastic trim that covers teh BCM (passenger side kick panel) and make sure that everything is thouroughly dry. Also, check under the carpet on both driver and passenger side. If you have access to a dehumidifier, put it inside the car with the windows up and doors closed and run it for a few days. You need to make sure that everything is totally dry. Hopefully you get lucky and nothing it totally fried.

thank you for your response. passengers side is actually pretty dry.

i will put a dehumidifier in for the next few days to get the car as dry as possible.

UPDATE:

I can now confirm that the trigger for all the electricals going crazy is putting the car in Reverse. The "R" doesn't show in dashboard.

Once i put car back in P, N or D the car behaves normally and i just need to turn of and on and skip to D quickly without lingering on R before i can get the car moving.

i really hope its not a major issue and it sorts itself as the car gets dryer
