Cutting aftermarket springs

ok guys. cut 1/2 a coil on the front and left the back alone. I'm happy with it.

Nice.... pics would be great, if you ever wanted to drop the back that would be simple since the rears are easy. Lower in the front is better than even all around IMO.

I think iheartfx is running the same way also.

stock the nose is a bit higher than the back... drop springs pretty much makes it even... 1/2 coil & cutting the rear spacer gives a very slight amount of rake, front comes down slightly more than the rear.

not cutting the rear spacer would make even a little more rake which should be fine on the fx, it can use a bit of rake really for a more aggressive stance, should look fine

Yeah, I really like the rake. I think it looks really good. I really didn't notice that much of a change in ride difference. I was expecting for it to be really bouncy and it's not too bad.

I'll take some pix when he comes to my place. I guess I get to see it first. =)

Were the pics able to come out? I know it was starting to get dark.

Yeah, I think I'm gonna leave the back alone. I think it looks fine just how it is.

Thank you guys for all the advice and info before hand.

I will be getting a set of H&Rs through eBay. I want the front wheel well gap to be about the same amount as the gap in the rear...I also think the rake would look good too. From the reading that I've done, it seems like lowering the fronts by 1/2 inch (cutting half a coil) and leaving the rears untouched would roughly achieve this. 909FX (or anyone else that has cut the fronts by 1/2 coil and left the rear spring mounts untouched), please let me know if this is not the case after settling. It's good to hear that the ride quality doesn't change much after cutting the front springs. I take it the handling hasn't changed too much either?

Now a few more questions:
when you cut the front springs, do you cut the top or the bottom?
It won't be too tough a job for a hacksaw will it?
Once cut, do I have to paint the cut part (like Tremclad) or coat it with something to prevent rusting?

I just want to make sure I don't screw up and wreck a set of springs. I also want to make sure this is the best thing to do to achieve the look I want.

Does anyone have answers to these questions?

Thanks. I haven't seen what these springs actually look like...just generic pictures from H&R. Didn't realize the tops and bottoms look diferent. Knew that the front and back are different sizes and shapes.

Is there any need to paint the cut end to protect from rust/corrosion?

also here is a pic of the cut springs I sold

You can see the difference on the ends, you can only cut the bottoms..(which are the tops in this picture)
