Custom exhaust muffler Banks

Never heard of them either but heck...that is what being an enthusiast is all about. Try it out...I would. Get some mandrel bent (or large diameter crush bent)piping and it could turn out to be one sexy exhaust setup.

Sorry I come from the age of HKS, Trust, Sparco, and Super Mesh wheels...the import era. But I had a Flowmaster muffler on my crx does that count??:kiss:
 
a stainless steel mufler from a reputable builder, for $20?... what was the question again? do you even have to ask?:tongue:

honestly, even if the muffler was great & it was free, you need to find out what everything else will cost & decide if you want to go with a cheap crush bent system, or a more expensive cut/weld pieced togeather mandrel system, or a full mandrel bent system like what available out there for us...

the muffler has to be a good deal at $20, but is that the best route to take with your fx, only you can decide that:biggrin:

personally I don't know much about the banks muffler but I would guess it's a decent piece...one problem may be you'll have no idea what it'll sound like on the fx until after the fact... might be a good idea to consider resonator(s) in your exhaust build to...

a resonator is in my plans. Just how long of a resonator is the question. I was think of this type of resonator.

so you gonna do a 3" single? what are you gonna use for the y pipe?...

again, factor in the resonator, tips, building the system, the whole thing & compare that to an off the shelf good exhaust & make sure the difference is even worth it... I think I seen great deals local to you on a good nismo exhaust, wasn't one of the dealers blowing them out in the 800 range?... sometimes saving a few hundred might not be worth the difference, but if you can piece it togeather for a huge savings then maybe it is worth it too... don't know those resonators but there a straight through stainless, so I guess there ok...
 
I agree with Turbocad. Banks is top quality, but the question is will yo you be better off wjth what you put together verse off the shelf. My own personal experience is probably 50 percent sucess rate.
 
banks makes great products and I had their players limited racing series "stealth" exhaust on my small block Chevy F-body. I love that exhuast with a passion, not a single other car on the road that was as loud or crackled as much as mine did. It was sicK! Even the shop that rebuolt my motor was impressed when we broke the new small block in. The smiles on their faces I will never forget and they do that sort of thing everyday so to say they were impressed is a compliment to Banks.
 
i just clicked on the link, that is the exact muffler I had on my Z, if you dont want it I will take it from you no problem for what you paid. I can use this as the baffles in my current banks are starting to rattle. Its almost 15 years old.

you can contact the banks people, cause they still have a pallet full of them when I picked it up. call them and ask for the internet person (i think her name was Joyce) or just email the ebay seller.

done! I am so excited! I think I may mod my exhaust from a Y pipe & single 3" pipe to the muffler to a true dual from the header back with two mufflers and quad tips! I hope they still have the tips some where cause those specif ones I cannot find anymore.

ha! I havent driven my f-body in almost 8 years, been in storage but for $20, a new project is in the works! thanks!

make sure you don't have to big of piping, cause you will lose low end torque.

Btw, how did the muffler sound when you had it on your car ?
