Bob Lutz, Vice Chairman of GM, issued a challenge to any sedan in similar category to take on the Cadillac CTS-V. The race will be just one car at a time on NY's Monticello track, five laps, with the best lap of the five being compared.

Bob Lutz is quite a driver, but just in case anybody decides to enter the contest with an actual pro race car driver, he has John Heinricy standing by to do a set of laps faster than Bob Lutz is capable of.

Mercedes withdrew its contestant, the C63 AMG,

then Jaguar pulled its contestant, the XFR. I believe both of those were going to Jalopnik.com to compete, but since they pulled them from the contest, Jalopnik decided to have an editor use his own Evo X MR.

My prediction: the MR's best time will be between 2-3 seconds slower than the CTS-V, which literally has almost twice the power. An Evo X FQ-400 would spank the CTS-V, but is not a fair comparison, and the Porsche Panamera would be in between the FQ and the CTS-V.

Oh and I think this is an AMAZING publicity stunt for GM, and there will be many more fans of the CTS-V when this is done.

(the race is tomorrow)

More info: Wes Siler from Jalopnik will be driving the Evo MR, and other competitors include an Audi RS4, BMW M3 and BMW M5... I guess the BMW 335xi can't cut it??? I would think that's pretty stout competition, being a twin turbo, awd inline-six.

Buddy of mine just sold his M3 and bought a CTS. He brought it out bone-stock to a weekly tuner meet. 556 at the crank, he said? Don't know much about Caddies...

Thats what the factory numbers are i love the caddie!!! Thatd be amazing if it got exactly what the factory numbers are but he might just be quoting them

Turns out it was an MR Touring, the one with a steel roof complete with sun-roof, no rear spoiler, heated leather seats, etc. (aka the heaviest, slowest Evo X ever made lol)

CTS-V (John Heinricy, PRO): 2:46:560
CTS-V (Aaron Link): 2:48:902
CTS-V (Brian Redman): 2:49:183
BMW M3 (Michael Cooper, 23 years old): 2.50:424
CTS-V (Jack Baruth): 2:51:153
CTS-V (Lawrence Ulrich): 2:53:026
CTS-V (Bob Lutz, 77 years old): 2:56:321
Evo X MR Touring (Wes Siler, Jalopnik): 3:08.126
BMW M5 (Michael Mainwald): 3:08:989
CTS-V (Chris Fairman): 3:14:292
Audi RS4 (Tom Loder): 3:15:702
Jaguar XF Supercharged (Archan Basu): 3:16.670

Track was wet... if I had to give any one person on the list the overall victory, it would be Michael C. in the BMW M3 Sedan. Heinricy in the M3 would've dominated all of the times.

Edit: that Michael C. is a racing instructor for youngins in Pennsylvania or something like that :P

Aaron Link...

Chris F. was just some regular Joe-Schmoe who owned a CTS-V and drove his own personal CTS-V on the track to show what any average 60 year old fart in a Caddy can do

Ok good. Those people I named are both drifters. I assume most people have heard of Chris Forsberg, and I figured he would not have a time that slow.

Updated the list with last names... that's the complete list.

This was on Cadillac's Facebook page LAWLZ

They're selling a car that arguably has over $100k "invested" and they can't take pictures that don't give headaches from being so blurry?

Btw it looks much better in the gloss black, pre-wrap.
