Crash

Just had a nasty collision in my FX50. Someone drove through a stop sign at high speed to hit me.

The FX took the brunt of it, certainly. It is totaled. The seatbelt made an intense black bruise, my leg hit the dash under the steering wheel for a painful bruise, and I've a sprained thumb. Everything is sore, but there's no blood, xrays show no broken bones, and no apparent serious injuries. The passenger side airbags went off, but mine either did not trigger or was ineffective for some unknown reason. Almost half a meter of the front is dented in, and the passenger-side doors buckled. It's nearly what Euro NCAP predicted for a side-front collision.

The other car was old and inexpensive (eg. 1988 Honda Civic), so the driver faired worse, but I'm told he'll be ok.

Insurance and police/firemen/paramedics have been very understanding so far. With the obvious impact results, witnesses' clarity regarding fault, and the other driver's circumstances, they've tried to put me at ease. I'm usually skeptical, but I'm impressed by the people in these institutions, even the dude at the police impound lot.

I'm disappointed. I spent a lot of time picking my car, caring for it, and all it takes is one person to randomly destroy it. At least it's final gift was safety.

I'll have to pick a new car soon. If it's another FX50, I'll consider smaller wheels since mine were torn up by curbs (wide car). I'll try other cars out, but I still look forward to reinstalling my stainless knobs I bought on this forum into a new Infiniti. After seeing me standing next to the mangled car, two people I know want to visit Infiniti with me. I thought everyone here should like to know that car accidents are violent and random, and that their Infiniti FX is remarkably protective.

all i read were dollar signs.......you will come out with a lot of money for your injuries......

You'll have a brand new FX50 plus extra cash in your hands.

Sorry to hear, but glad you are okay.

Any pics? Would love to see how everything held up.

Thankfully FX is a tank. You have any pics of the aftermath

Glad you are not hurt. You said it best yourself, the parting gift was safety. FX50 or not in your future, we'll be happy to have you stick around the scene :)

Sorry to hear about the accident but glad to hear you are ok. Hopefully no pains arise later on.

I'm also curious to see any pictures you have of your accident.

Great to know you made out ok. Look at it this way, now you can get a new car and work on some new DIY projects which I am sure will put a smile on your face when they are completed successfully.

Glad to hear the FX took care of you till its end and you made it through the ordeal without serious injury. Hope you decide on another FX.

Glad you are okay and that the FX did protect you.

Interesting to hear if they do inspect the car and mention why the front drivers air bag did no go off.

Lucky you have witnesses too.

Sorry to hear that happened, but thank for sharing such a well written explanation of the event.

Yikes. Glad you came out alright. Do you know how fast the other guy was going? Also, +4 or whatever for some crash pics and an airbag failure update.
