CRASH: Question on front bracing in a crash

I have held off in getting the GTSPEC front lower bracing. (dont know why)


but recently I was looking at NTSB crash videos and it got me thinking about our FX's crumple zoom.
wouldn't the extra bracing affect the way our FX perform in a frontal crash? I know Nissan designed the car as a uni-body and also made certain parts more "flexible" during a crash.

I guess the best way is not to get into a frontal collision. lol

but I think this should be consider before installing any braces that attach to the "frame".

I have a feeling that in a crash that was hard enough to bring up this issue that the braces would snap. It's made to absorb light pressure, but I bet if you drove into a tree it would snap. Maybe not though, who knows.
 
how solid/strong are the points where the braces connect to the car? If it does affect the crumble zone i would imagine a lot of the energy being transferred to the braces as a result of the crash

I would think that the bolt would sheer off in a crash? I am guessing they are grade 8 bolts that affix the brace to the frame? The bolts are designed to hold the brace to the frame but a direct impact would probably have them just break away.

If you lowered your own FX (which I did) the suspension bolts are hardened (I know this because my spindle bolts were rusted to my spindle). Much different than other bolt on parts I have installed (I have not done any aftermarket bracing YET).

+1 in the event of a crash the bolts holding the braces will def snapoff.. Plus the braces are there to Support the frame.. Not to hold it together..
