Contact at Infiniti Canada in Relation to Warranty

Hey guys,

I'm trying to make a claim with Infiniti Canada in regards to covering a manufacturer's defect for my vehicle - which isn't under warranty any longer. I tried contacting Infiniti Canada, but I get a customer relations rep on the phone that just follows guidelines. When she saw that my vehicle was not under warranty any longer she didn't want to listen to what I had to say any longer - all she was saying "We cannot cover anything as your vehicle is not under warranty any more. I was wondering if any of you would happen to have a contact at Infiniti Canada that would be willing to listen to my case - as I believe the issue is a manufacturer's defect that affects most Infiniti vehicles.

Thanks

So you saw the other thread about the free engine that dude is getting, and you also want to pull a fast one on infiniti...seems legit...

In normal scenarios you have the warranty period to find defects in the manufacturing of the vehicle... If you haven't found defects by then I'm sorry but you drove the thing for a lot of miles, or you had it for a good number of years, it ain't infiniti's problem.

If you only recently bought your car, did you buy it from a dealer, or privately. Why can't you take your car to the dealer and see if they will fix the problem. In fact why don't you atleast tell us what the problem is so that maybe we can try to help you out...

Are you looking for a cookie from infiniti for helping them find this defect "which affects most of their vehicles"?

I'm not even close to wanting to swap out my engine.....I have a steering hose PS problem that needs to get replaced due to a leak in the hose. I noticed that a lot of other Infiniti vehicles have had the same issue. Moreover, the mechanic at the dealership (when I went in to get it checked), already knew what the problem was and he even said - "ya this is a common problem with many of the Infiniti vehicles, especially during this time of year when it gets a little colder."

I started another thread in relation to this issue on the forum, and apparently there's a service bulletin for this issue on a newer model, the JX. You can check it here:

I just think that even though my warranty is over, that if the issue seems to be a manufacturer's defect considering that it's a recurring problem on all of their vehicles.

I tried contacting Infiniti Canada, and the consumer relations rep told me that since my warranty is over, that the issue isn't covered - she didn't want to listen to me at all after she verified the VIN on the system. Infiniti should at least cover a portion of the repair costs (which I mentioned during my call), pending on the fact that this is an issue that is affecting all of their vehicles.

I'd like to see if someone higher up in the offices, would consider my case, instead of losing a potential long term customer.

If your vehicle is no longer under warranty then it's no longer under warranty. Not sure what you think infiniti owes you. One of the biggest issues i've seen with first gen fx's or any fx's for that matter is the bubbling dash, Infiniti extended the warranty on that issue, however if someone with a first gen tries to get their dash fixed after the warranty is over then Inifiniti won't fix it even though it's a known problem. No one there will listen you and they don't have to. You want to be heard then hire a lawyer if you think it's worth it. A lot of vehicles have known issues after the warranty period expires, that's why car companies give a time frame they'll take responsibility up until. I wish you luck. Have you tried their facebook page

^ How do you know there is an issue? Leaks? Steering problems? How much are the parts and labor to have the hose replaced?

$850 (as reported in the other thread). I guess the OP seems to think everyone around here reads every single post, as his vague thread made it seems like we all had every inkling of what he was on about...

As said above, not Infiniti's problem.

You bought a car, stuff goes wrong with cars, pieces wear out and need to be replaced. Its called maintenance.

You gotta pay to play.

In that same sense its pretty common that spark plugs fail after about 75000km, maybe infiniti should warranty those as well...

Absurd thread is absurd...

Not to offend any of you guys....I definitely understand your logic, but I just find that if it seems to be a recurring issue, and they are offering the warranty replacement on their newer model JX, then I believe it is something the manufacturer hasn't resolved as part of their quality control process = their responsibility.

Aside from that, I managed to get a suspension issue fixed by Acura for an issue that fell outside of my warranty period. That particular case was a similar circumstance as this one.

Needless to say, I will continue to attempt at speaking with somebody else at their head office and see if I can get them to cover a portion. At the end of the day, I'm trying to make a point, it has nothing to do with the financial aspect of the situation, it's more about the principle. I lose nothing in trying....

Nevertheless, thanks for your feedback...

I have to agree with Tee money on this one.

First off I'm not trying to sound mean and just sheading some light on this issue bro.

You have a problem with your car and you expect Infiniti to honor it out of warranty. Now how would that be to us other Infiniti owners that spend thousands of dollars on extended warranties when someone such as yourself comes along and expects Infiniti to just fix it for free. That wouldn't really be that fair to someone like me or other people. The real reason Infiniti doesn't care to honor this issue you are having is because if they fixed stuff for free for some people, then everyone is going to expect stuff done for free outside of warranty. And bro this is not a common problem on the 2nd gen FX. If it were a tab aka technical service bulletin would of been issued on problems reported many times. I have yet to hear of someone with the same issue as you. And another thing to think about is that hoses are made of rubber. Cold weather deteriorates rubber. And I see you live in Canada so that doesn't help. And since you no longer gave a warranty I'm assuming you have high miles so that's also a factor. If you plan to keep a car outside of warranty expect to pay for some maintenance for these or any car in general. Like another said before you got to pay to play. These cars aren't cheap to begin with. If I remember correctly the FX50 costs upwards of almost $67k. Expect stuff not to be cheap.

Again Infiniti is only being fair. If I thought I could get stuff fixed out of warranty I wouldn't have paid like $3k for my extended warranty. I bought this extended warranty from Infiniti for the very same exact kind of issues that could pop up down the road like what you are having.

Do yourself a favor and save your money and yourself from having a headache and buy the part cheap online and take it to a good mechanic and get it fixed for half the price Infiniti is wanting to charge. You'll be happy and so will your wallet.

Again bro not trying to be mean just being honest because I know how Infiniti consuner affairs works and your not going yo get anywhere unless you get a lawyer.
