Considering Stillen High Flow Intake

I really want to try the popcharger filter with the stillen heat shield. Since the popcharger as the open end, I'd like to have a tube that collects air from the front going to the filter. But the popcharger doesn't have have a full box, just the shield.

seriously , the Stillen uses a K&N filter, the JWT uses another kind (dont know the brand).

also the Stillen has a heat shield that is more closed up than the JWT open heat shield.
 
Hate to resurrect an old thread here, but I purchased a Stillen Z-tube and intake off of a guy who had it installed on his G35 cpe, and the dealer was having a hard time with the install. According to them, there was a 6in gap between the intake tube and the box. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, what's the best way to rectify it? I'm tempted to go to my local parts supplier and purchase a 6" intake tube and extra couplers, but I wanted to check and see if there was something else that could be done before I went all "Frankenstein" on my intake.

DISCLAIMER: I know that going to the dlr for something like this is frowned upon (trust me, I had a hard time convincing myself), but it's waaay too cold out for me to play around with this in the garage, and I had to take my car in anyway for a cold-starting issue...
 
did they use the accordion piece from the stock intake? I think that is what some people did. Or just get a longer coupler like you were thinking.
 
The intake kit and Z-tube are sold together on the Stillen site as a package deal, but they are separate parts. Neither replaces the accordian tube or the MAF sensor tube.

Thanks for the input guys! I looked at the pics, and the Z-tube that I have doesn't look EXACTLY like the ones depicted. Since the weather was nice this weekend, I tried my hand at it, and I noticed that the tube actually has an accordian-like end to it which is more "pliable' than the tube itself. That said, you could force the connection between the Ztube and the "accordian piece", but it would eventually pop off, or create enough space to leak because there's nothing that's really solid at that connection site. I purchased some extra intake tube to cut and fit, but later found another Ztube which should allow me to utilize the stock accordian piece and bridge the connection.
