Hey guys :smile (2):

I just picked up my new 2012 FX 35 and was wondering if anyone knew what would be the color code for our OEM wheels ( I have the 18" ) ? I figured I would need this when and if I ever scrape or curb the wheels ??? And not for nothing but i looked at each wheel and there's like a half inch slash from some kind of red marker right by each air thingie ( sorry i don't know the word :confused.: ) as if the tech who did the PDI marked the wheels so he'd remember which one he already checked ...... WTF :mad.: ???

I guess I an complain with the dealer but i honestly don't think they'd do anything about it now so if i can use the touch up paint or perhaps something that may remove it id prefer to do so ....... I'm just very picky that way ??!! TIA

Don't curb the wheels!

Actually, you have 60-series rubber on the 18's, so you don't have a silly short sidewall and should be okay if you are careful. Even the OEM 20's are only 50-series.

The red mark is actually done so they can match up the heavy side of the wheel to the light side of the tire (or is it the reverse??) so you don't have 400 grams of wheel weight on the rims. You'll see a corresponding mark on the tire. Some elbow grease on the rim mark will get it off.

And the air thingy is called the tire valve stem. :)

As for the touch up...the wheels have alot of clear coat on them, so most people have the wheel refinished if they curb it badly enough because you'll never get it to look right any other way.

Awwwww thank you dude :smile (2): ! Though not curbing the wheels is easier said than done ahem ahem but truuust me I'll be trying my best not to !! OMG I don't exactly what you mean by heavier side of the wheel and whatnot but fxxk couldn't hey use something other than a red marker ??

K I'm not afraid of using some ummmmmm elbow grease but what would I be using to scrub it off ?? And ohh thanks for he FYI ....... valve stem thingy GOTCHA :tongue (2):

You have 4 cameras in the damn car (if you have the Premium package), so make good use of them while parking!

I forget what I used on the marker...maybe some goo gone? Wheel cleaner doesn't do it, that's for sure.

Haaaa yeah I got the 4 cameras but I thought those were for me :wink (2): Oh cool I got goo goo gone for the times I debadged my other rides so I know this would be fine for the paint on the wheels !!

How bad is the red marking? Can you post pictures?

Sure I'll post tomorrow since I'll be giving the ride a complete was and waxing with the weather to be gorgeous in the NY area :smile (2): Besides I'm already dressed ummmmmmmm for " sleeping " :wink.:

Took a quick picture after my morning jog. This is on all 4 wheels ??

I'd be pissed. That's the first time I'm seeing something like this. I'd be asking the dealer if it was ok if I went to their dealership and did that to every car they are selling on the lot and see how they feel.

Wow, that's totally different than what I thought you are talking about. No clue why they did that. Maybe it's just grease marker and will come right off?

If it's a marker that was written on it that would probably polish off with a good microfiber and some finishing polish by hand. Doesn't look too serious. If it doesn't come off I would just bring it back to the dealer and bitch about it since the car is brand new. Not even a month old.

don't worry about the rim touch up paint, you won't need it and are the details really that important..? its not a show car..

as for the red, i would try to scrape it off with my fingernail or a rag and light solvent.. no special care needed from what I'm looking at.

dont over think it.

Do you try to park into the curb ...how are you gonna, curb 18's its most tire anyways

Haaa ........ when i first noticed the red mark i was like " wtf " ??? I did mention it to my salesman and he was gonna take a look at it when i picked up my plates but .......... hey its all goooooood :smile (2): i was able to take the red marks off all 4 wheels today when cleaning up the ride yaaay !!

I noticed that the red mark wasn't as dark red as they were the other day so i figured they were coming off slowly but surely so when i was cleaning my wheels ..... PFFFTTTT all gone :top: thank you for your advise though !!

Thanks ....... it was actually easy to get rid of today and i was soooo relieved !! Like i said I'm very picky when it comes to something like that !!

The air thingy is sometimes referred to as "nipple" :tongue (2):

Hmmmmm ................ k ill keep that in mind the next time i use that word :wink (2):

Well ......... its more so from past experience regarding curbing but i can see what you mean that there won't be much curbing with the size of the sidewalls ! I just promised myself to be very , very cautious and not rush so i won't have any careless " ooppsss ". Sloooow and easy ahem ahem :wink (2):
