Cold air intake 05 fx35

Hi Im new to all this. i have been looking around for a cold air intake kit for my 05 fx35. ive only managed to find weapon r intake kit and heard on other forms that they are ok. i hear ingen/fujita are the way to go. so i was wondering if anyone could list the parts that i would need to get to install a cold air intake on my new fx.

Look on eBay they have a few there, I had the Stillen z tube with a k and n drop in but changed it to a Takeda intake. Love it.

No true cold air intakes for the FX. All draw air from the same spot. Closest you'd get is Stillen since it actually has an airbox.
 
In my opinion, they all do about the same. I don't think this one versus that one will gain you any noticeable difference, so choose the intake you like based on looks, ease of install, or price. Stillen looks OEM while Fujita adds some bling to your engine bay and is easy to clean.
 
I just got the Takeda, and it certainly looks trick. and it sounds good. Install was relatively easy.

HOWEVER, it is a very tight fit, to the point where it actually doesnt fit quite right. The filter is actually quite large and leads to it touching some of the bay and brackets that house the wiring.

I will try to photograph the problem so everyone can see. And maybe those with the Takeda can chime in if they have a simmilar problem.

EDIT: because of the fit for now I cannot get the plenum bracket lined up to put the bolt in, so its just kinda hanging there.
 
Is there any actual true power gains from these warm air intakes? The factory setup is the only cold air system i've seen, the factory set up is actually pretty good. no bends or baffles

Have you even looked under your hood?

There are plenty of bends and baffles under there.

Chances are that no there is no gains from an intake by itself. But add a plenum spacer and exhaust and yeah it might help a bit.

The main reason I went for the takeda intake was so that I could free up my engine bay and for cool looks and the sound...

There are no baffles, and only a slight curve. One resonator.. thats it.
 
get the stillen z-tube - closest to stock setup and arguably draws the most cold air due to the duct setup. Look at dyno results from here and other vq35 platforms - z-tube is usually regarded as one of the "better". Unless you want to go custom heat shielding etc. A lot of these intakes just look shiny and stuff

Yeah I did a little modification to it and it doesn't touch, I know the spot where you are talking about. My bolt hole lines up perfect with the plenum though.

I know my '04 35 had two resonators, one in the tube area heading back to the plenum and one directly below the filter box. Once I pulled the front one out and plugged the hole and replaced the tube with a Stillen Z-tube I noticed a pretty decent power/sound improvement. However, I also did the K&N drop in and the Plenum spacer. All together, I can really hear/feel the difference.
