Cloth seats...rare?

Hey everyone - so this is my first post on infintiscene, although i've lurked for a while. Came across this thread in a search and thought I'd post. I do in fact have one of the rare 2003 IP FX35's in cloth. No sunroof, no roof rails, no Bose, no nothin. Rear wheel drive. Bought it for $31,999, brand new, out the door, in Charleston SC. It's my wife's, and we absolutely love it. Approx 95K miles, and the cloth still looks brand new. Much harder to keep leather looking that way. It does have the sunglasses holder. We're moving to Cali soon and it may get a Stillen SC bolted on, but it's got a few more miles than I'd prefer on it for FI, babied miles or not.

I also have a 2007 IP G35S 6 speed that I custom ordered with no nav, no sunroof, no Bose, no tech, no nothin. Just lightweight, manual, rear wheel drive. $31K out the door. Waited almost 5 months for that car. I wanted cloth but it was never offered on the 2nd gen G's in cloth. I looked into having the cloth seats from the Nissan Skyline V36 GT350 imported, but it was cost prohibitive (i.e. thousands of dollars). If you can't tell, I'm a lightweight, performance oriented, grippy cloth seat, no sunroof (extra weight with a high center of gravity, added complexity, and less headroom for a helmet for example) kind of guy. Not everyone is, and I can appreciate that, but that's how I am. It has been modded fairly heavily but retains a near stock look. It will most likely get a GTM VQ35HR Supercharger setup in California. I know Infiniti can do lux, but our personal cars tend to lean more toward the sport side of the spectrum.

Anyhow, thought I'd post about the "rare" FX. I've only seen one other that I've been able to confirm, as I walked up to it and looked inside. I peeped it in Dallas. I read somewhere fewer than 200 made it into the country in this trim, mainly as a "loss leader" version for dealers to advertise in the newspaper. Cheers from Texas.

Saw a white FX35 on Warrenville RD today with no roof rack and no sunroof, maybe a strip down version but I was driving so couldn't get a glimpse inside. Was a sunroof or rails an option?

hey bros, thanks for the welcome. yea that one's not mine, ours has pennsylvania plates (moved to tx from pa) - and had blizzaks on it at the time that pic was taken. but that may very well be the one i saw in dallas. i've seen a couple more on the road over the past few years, but have only been able to look inside and confirm that one car's interior to be cloth. i assume most of them reside somewhere in the south as RWD wasn't that popular up north in snow country. awd wasn't an option on the base car. i do recall the price being a few grand cheaper than the non-base version. but i still got it for a great deal - most likely because they couldn't move a cloth interior'd luxury suv. i'm fairly certain ivory pearl was the only color avail with the cloth interior.

ours has the blacked out tails from the fx45 as well. as far as the rails, i don't think they were an option. i used to be pretty active on fresh alloy, and seem to remember a guy who didn't have rails wanting to add them, and having difficulty because the hardware wasn't inside his roof. but don't quote me on that, that was years ago. i told the wifey that the GTR is nicknamed Godzilla, and apparently her ride is nicknamed "the Unicorn." she liked that hehe...

Haha, are all the base model FXs white only? Looks like 3 for 3 white ones that have been spotted/confirmed so far.

Really, I have never seen any, but I have seen a busted turtle once.
