click sound when breaking

Hello All,

I am hearing a single 'click' sound every time when I apply the brakes. Its a single click as I start to depress the brake pedal and happens consistently. Is that something common? Its very annoying esp. in stop and go traffic.

Has anyone able to fix the issue? Since its is only 1600miles should I take it to dealer to look at? Hope I don't hear the typical "We don't hear it!", "Its common", "Within specifications" from them...

Appreciate any input.

Thanks
Anand

Is it coming from the floor, pedal assembly? If so, some manipulation and lubrication should fix her up. The dealer is always an option as long as it's in warranty.

Is this the same click that happens when you press the brake to unlock the shifter..?

Yes it comes from the pedal assembly..I went down under the floor and I could hear the click coming from the pedal assembly/area as I press the brake pedal with my hand. I am not sure what to lubricate there as I ended up taking away existing grease in my hand as I tried to touch each pin/screw there to see if something that I could do as a quick fix.

Thanks

With my very limited knowledge, if its break pad then wont the sound be audible more on the outside near the wheels where the pads are? Since this is new car I am trying to see what I should tell the dealer to fix/look for if they say "we dont hear it"...How can it be fixed without replacing pads etc since I am not sure if they will do that on this 1 month old car.

Thanks

I had this same issue:

Its more of a single click or pop noise from the brakes. Found out the brake pads were shifting inside of the caliper. Brand new ones fixed the issue.

Hmmmm I am not sure as the only sound I hear is this 'click' sound when I unlock the shifter - may be I am paying too much attention to the 'click' and ignoring rest :bulgy-eyes:

Lol yeah... that's how passengers know I'm braking. It's this little "click" when you depress the brake.
Also when the "click" happens, your brake lights show. I was messing with the car one night to see if I could get the click before the brake light showed
..so I depressed my foot cm by cm and every time I heard the click, the brake lights would show.

Btw, I just realized you own a 2nd gen.. so it may be different.
Try depressing the brake while in park and see if your hear a "click" while the car is on ON or START.

Dude, just go to the dealer. They'll fix it right up and tell you exactly what it was. The car is too new.

Just went to the dealer to check it out and checked out another FX there and it does the same click sound! seems its common on Inifinit's. Atleast got it checked out :)

Mine doesn't make a click sound from the brake pedal.

But then again i have the tech package that controls the brake pedal for you so the assembly is different.
