Are there at least five people with '16 QX70's (or other models with the same headlights) who would be interested in sending DK MOULDS (www.dkmoulds.net) their headlight reflector lenses to have moulded and sent clear/smoke ones?

I am looking to replace my amber colored ones with one of the above smoke colors and would need a pre-order of at least five prior to molding them.
Clear reflectors for 2014-17 Q50 are $40-45 for the pair, so I'm assuming ours would be about the same price.

*I apologize if I am breaking any forum rules with this post and will make any necessary changes immediately upon notification.

I am interested but doesn't he need only one headlight in order to make a mould?

Hey guys - so Dan Herbert over at DKMOULDS got back to me and here is the deal:

"For new products, I would just need one set (left and right) of just the amber reflectors as long as it's as perfect condition to mold.

For new products I create. Listing on my website for pre orders. Based on size hey will run about $45 retail for clear and $50 for variation (light smoke, dark smoke, frosted and tint), and shipping is $6.45 priority mail.

It would take me.about 2-3 days to create the initial molds, and then I can pour one set per day and they are shipped on first come first serve basis.

For 1-5 pre orders, customers will get 15% off their order. For 6+ pre orders, it will be a 25% discount. And if you are providing the amber set, I will give you 40% off your order.

I hope this information helps, and just let me know if/when you'd like me to create a product listing and code for pre orders.

Regards
Dan"

When I painted my housing, the reflector was not removeable unless I cut into the housing... I had to mask it off and then smoke them seperately. Thats why most of the painted headlights on the FX have the reflector just painted over.

If I'm not mistaken, you have to bake the headlight (google search "baking headlight") to open it up - you would never want to cut it open. It's not that difficult a process actually and looks a thousand times better than painting the headlight.
No shortcuts for me when it comes to modding my ride. I rather do something the right way, even if it's a lot more difficult . . .

I don't think he's talking about cutting the headlights open, he's talking about cutout out the reflector once the headlights are already opened.

Im very interested in this aswell. I think peej opened his up & the reflectors came right off if im not mistaken. I did a g37 & the reflectors came off on that aswell.

I had to bake mine to open them. It's time consuming, but not too difficult. I wrapped each reflector with some leftover matte black vinyl I had lying around.
