Clear HID Lense

ah, so in stock config, wouldn't that still mean that most of your light is going to the side too, only difference can be it's only going to one side... maybe that's the rational there, to not light the left side as much as the right?... I guess that could make sense... ah, maybe it'll bother me less now looking at it that way

yea i was told at the dealer i believe that the cutoffs are lower on the left to reduce the amount of light shining up into oncoming cars. it can be higher on the right obviously.

your still lighting the left side...but the cutoff goes down..hmm hard to explain....the very left side here ill try in this pic and these are FX projectors:

So your still lighting the left side, but the left cutoff kind of arcs down so your not blinding oncoming traffic....the right side is always higher like a step. The right projector in this pic should be raised up just a tad to get that step.

Also, did you make sure you had 2 left and 2 right projectors and made sure they were on the correct sides? That would really mess up your cutoff if they were located on the wrong sides.

pretty sure both sides are the same. at least the have the same cutoff shape which would make one think they are exactly the same.

I have 2 sets of headlights that I'm working on.....1 is pre-recall and one is post recall..honestly I dont see a difference.

And there should be a Left and Right projector. The left one angles the light down obviously on the left. The right projector angles down to the right of the step. I think if you switched them, your left proj(really pass proj) would flare a little upwards into oncoming traffic....your right proj(really driver proj) would then be too low on the left side of the beam

no, there identical inside, the only difference is the projector mount, so you can't cross them anyway, but they are both exactly the same, stepped up to the right.

I have pre & post too & I can't see any real difference, but we know infiniti spent millions to correct a dot inadequacy, so obviously there is some difference.

I spent some time having a conversation with an infiniti parts manager about the recalls. he's pretty knowledgeable with Nissan inside info & he insists that the recall had nothing to do with the headlights projectors at all. he insists that the recall was due to viewing angles of the taillights & front side lights, that at certain angles you couldn't see the lights or you couldn't even tell they were on & at certain angles you couldn't tell that the turn signal was on. dot has a certain intensity that must be maintained throughout a set of angles & infiniti's lights didn't meet the requirements through the range. this does contradict the many here who claim to have def seen a big difference from pre to post, but then some have said that after adjusting/aiming them up they were about the same too... I will side by side both & see for myself what I can see...

so what are you doing with 2 sets opened?

I'm trying to pull off a Trip set of projectors.....have to one up you! I figure one set for a turnsignal would be sweet...and dual proj like your setup.... yeah right....just got a good deal on a second set. I just blacked out one set, first time I've ever opened a set of headlights before. I just wanted to have an extra set just in case I messed up my stockers. I learned a lot, and next time I do my headlights, they are going to look much better.

Now I'm going to take my post recall stockers and black those out too...or just sell em....or take the projector and do a retro in my other car...or I just dont know?

Nothing doing with my recalled headlights. With my hand still injured I can't do any mods right now. Kept my black painted HL's on, and still waiting to paint the other set.
Thinking the other set, which are brand new, will come out much better. It has a very clear lense, no scratches or marks on them at all. The ones I have now are slightly discolored, have pitting, and scratches on the lenses. If I look hard enough at the output, it is slightly distorted. New lenses should bring up my output.

I asked Bert to come over and help with my new HL's, he said no :frown:...he's such a meanie

Let's see your project Merchant??
