Clear Coat Plasti Dip Over What Regular Paint?

Ok guys I posted this to another thread then I thought I was thread jacking and removed it. Im going to paint my grill black using plasti dip, but the problem is the black only comes in matt. Don't mind that but I want something with a little more gloss. So my plan is to purchase a black paint and cover it with plasti dip clear coat. My question is what paint can I use that will work well with the plasti dip clear coat? Thanks

Tough question, you might have to do a trial and error on a sample piece until you can find a compatible paint.

Say it isn't so, you were batting .1000...lol, j/k. But if I must I must, was hoping not to have to do it this way, what should I be looking for in the sample test? I've only heard of the mess if clear coat is not compatible.

Guys I was looking around on some other forums and from what I was seeing there is no prep work needed for PlastiDip. So if you don't like the job you can just peel it off and the grill is still in tact. Im wondering can I just paint it without the prep work on our chrome grill.

Did you ever figure this out?

I'd like to plasti dip my grill just to see if I like it, but I don't want matte paint...

Krylon Fusion Satin Black, i wet sanded the grill to take off the plasti dip as much as i could, then sprayed krylon on the grill coz i was like 'screw it, it's too much work". it came out ok.
