Cleaning the Plenum

I cleaned my throttle bodies and made a DIY guide on here:

Was wondering if you guys think it's safe if I open up the Plenum to clean the inside of that too. Meaning take the cover off and spray throttle body cleaner on to my towel and wipe the inside down?

I also know there is bolts that hold the plenum cover on the top. Do I need to tighten those to a specific torque setting? And should I replace the plenum cover gasket too? Thanks!

I would think you would need to replace gaskets. Yes, you will need specific torque settings as well.

I have been a fan, so far, of Seafoam. You do not need to remove plenum. Instead you use a vacuum hose to suck up the liquid. However, I know this is popular on Gen1's. Not sure if will hurt anything on a Gen2.

Should be safe to remove and clean the inside. I took off the upper and lower plenums before. They all have specific torque settings, and you have to be careful to get the right one. I snapped one bolt because I didn't remember the inside bolts are a lower number. I think the gasket can be reused as long as it looks okay after removal. I think the first gen just have a flat metal one so it can't really get messed up unless you accidentally bend it and break it.

I'm guess everything should be similar for the 2nd gen. I would check the service manual for torque specs.
