That's a good job I would do it to my car but I have to know exactly what I should cover on the 08 fx

No need to use a pressure washer. Just use the hose to lightly spray the engine and entire engine bay. Just enough to make the suds and dirt run off. There is no need to use the hose to blast the dirt and grime off cause you'll be scrubbing it first and that will loosen everything up for you right away. I didn't blast the engine with water, I just let the water lightly run over it. After that you could use a leaf blower to blast any leftover water out of the cracks and crevices that you missed, then finish it up with a nice microfiber towel.

Wow.. looks like you really got into all the little crevices of the engine. Looks wicked clean. I just claybar'd and waxed my car and its smooth like butter. Getting ready for that crazy NE weather.

I did the same with mine a while ago. Clay, and a couple coats of Zaino Sealant. She's ready for her long outside stay in the Great White North. I keep it outside and the Zaino sure helps.
Once the weather gets colder I'll pull the 20"ers and put on my 18" Blizzaks for ice and white stuff, brrrrrrrrrrr I get chills thinkin about it.

Haha I feel you brotha! It's horrible here in NY in the winter. I'm going to prep my car at the end of the month with some clay, wax, and sealant to ready it for the harsh winter.

Let's just hope winter isn't bad up here in the NE like last year:tdown:

I just cleaned my engine today. It was never ever cleaned by the previous owner and was absolutely filthy. I was waiting for a nice warm day to clean it and today was the day. It was surprisingly easy to clean. I was to eager to start before I took a picture but this is the after:

I just used water from a hose and a mist setting on the hose nozzle to rinse off all the dirt, then dosed the engine with Simple Green at a 1:4 to water ratio. Then I just used a rag to clean off the the really dirty areas. Then one more rinse and dried it with another rag. I would do a blower but it was too early in the morning to do that. Finally, I used a water based tire spray dress everything in the engine and turned on the engine and drove for a bit to evaporate all of the water underneath.

I was afraid to wash my engines for years, now with a little familiarity and seeing how easy it really is, I'm offering to do it for my dad and girlfriend! :smile (2):

Looks good. But next time use a dedicated plastic and rubber protection such as 303 Aerospace Protectant. Using a tire shine dressing is bad for it because it will eventually dry out the plastics and fade them. Stuff like tire shine is only made for tires. Hope that helps!

I hear you. I want to use Meguirs Hyperdressing cut to a 4:1 ratio with water, but I didn't have it handy. I've also heard good things about 303 Aerospace protectant. I'll try and pick some of that stuff up before I clean the next engine.

Cleaning engine compartment

Your engine bay looks good, but if you don't mind i would like to offer a suggestion ...........next time spray engine bay with foam tire cleaner while engine is cold, cover alternator with plastic bag first. You may need to use tooth brush in cracks etc. Let stand about 5 minutes and rinse with spray bottle or low pressure hose. This can all be done in 20 minutes or so. You will be amazed at the results...................thanks
