chrome trim to replace fading trim?

hey guys, i'm sure this has been answered often before, but i couldn't find it through search. I'm pretty sick of looking at the fading trim above/around the windows. looks awful no matter which product i try to polish them up. i have an 07 FX and was curious about the chrome trim some people have/get. Where do i find it and what's the general price going to be?

also, i assume a lot of people who get the chrome trim also get those chrome pillars? eventually i need to figure out a way to keep that area below the rear bumper black as well. it's ugly.

thanks for the help

The OEM chrome trim is available through the Infiniti parts department but will run you over a grand. Your other option is to find the stick on variety that will be less desirable.

As for the area below the rear bumper cover, I've not heard of any fading issues there. You should be good.

wow, over a grand? wasn't expecting it to run that much. I tried looking for the OEM chrome via infiniti's website but didn't see it offered. Besides the area around the top of the windows and i guess below, what else comes with that? Seems pretty pricey for that, right?

The chrome trim came with a V8 engine. It was standard on the 45's from 06-08.

:tongue (2):

The parts cost that much because the trim on the small quarter window in the rear is attached to the glass itself. The part replaces the entire window.

gotcha. i have mine in that pewter gray and it looks nice except for that fading black which i can't keep fresh. i think the chrome would look good on my color. my window tint in the front matches the stock tint in the rear so super black windows, gray and the chrome between.

It can, in fact, be painted. It has been done and looks just as good, if not better, than the original.

you go with what you like man, FX looks grand one way or the other. only downside is that thing is too damn expensive. keep us posted and pics up when you can.

REALLY!!!

I painted my trim with krylon fusion gloss black and clear coat back in april. Some other members here have used it on their grilles with success, so i figure I would go that route. So far, so good with all the sun and chicago heat/humidity. if i had to nick pick, there is a little orange peel on the some parts of the trim, but its 10x better to look at overall. looks like a new car. if i could do it again, I would have sanded it first, even though fusion states that you dont have to. It probably would had made the finish a little smoother. The best way to do it is to either replace with the aluminum trim or get it professionally done, but I figure $15 for paint, tape and time, it cant hurt to try it.
