Chedman13's 2003 FX45

Decided to get 6000K headlight bulbs to match my 6000K HID fogs and LED DTRL. Not a perfect match but good enough.

Looks good Ed.

But I have concerns over the bracket weaponR made for the CAI that bolts onto the engine for stability. I think they could have done alot better job with that part. What do you think Ed?

I have mixed feelings about it. But regarding your comment, there is nothing to worry about. Where the bracket is mounted to is a OEM factory mount where the stock air intake was connected to.

Weapon*R supplied a rubber vibration mount and that goes there and then you screw in the nut. It does what it's supposed to do - holds the intake and has a little give.

The bracket is a generic bracket (works great in any situation). You simply bend it to fit. So as you can see, this part isn't custom at all. I think the bracket works and looks fine. My only complaint is that it would have been nice if it was custom. It only took me a minute to bend it to fit so it really wasn't complicated.

I see, but for the price they are asking for it would have been nice to custom fabricate that piece into the intake. But I guess you can't be too choosy with the limited intakes available. This piece would look real ugly if it was gonna go into a show car.

Looking good Ed.....

OT - but why are the pics goin Horizontal?

Thanks. Oh, I just took random pictures and threw them on the computer. I didn't really take notice if I took them vertical or horizontal, but now that you mention it I see what you mean.

GT Spec Rear Lateral Brace (blue) and Custom Rear Tig welded Tie Brace (black).
Dealership quote to install = $330 (3 hour labor and they said they had to do an alignment with it).
Installing it with rhino ramps and using white out to mark the positions of the cams = $0

For any HKS Exhaust people out there (I don't think there are many), plenty of clearance of mid-pipe. Drove around and no rattling or hitting. Very nice mod and easy to do.

Very nice Ed! Another satisfied customer. Now go put yourself down on the list for the front braces .

Thanks, the install is making me avoid it... I don't have air tools so would have to bring it to a local shop. I have no idea how much they'd charge me but it looks a little complex for me to explain to them.

Did the post say how long the install would take?

If you have the proper tools I would say about an hour or 2 max. We will know more as the braces come to market. But no there were no specific install times mentioned only that JC's initial test fit and install took about 5 hours.

Cool.

Can anyone guess my next mod?

Nice Ed! But summer's half over, lol. Post pictures as soon as you get them installed.

Just back from a tire shop -- they won't touch 22's. Ah well, I have to go to the dealership to get the TPMS linked up.

Summer? Pierce, I'm running 22's all year round=)
