Check Engine light with Invidia Cat-back after 2 years ??

So I've been wanting to start a thread on this to see if anyone else that owns a 2nd Gen with a Invidia Gemini Cat-back exhaust has had their check engine light come on. I've had my exhaust for 2 year with no problems then all of a sudden the light came out. I had brought it to the dealer months back to see what the problem is and they said before they can do any work through warranty they need me to put the stock exhaust back on. I did so and brought it back in. They checked everything out and said all the sensors were working fine and said that the air/fuel ratio is dead flat ( perfect ) on their computer. Well I ended up getting an inspection sticker because I needed one and wouldn't pass with the light on.

Anyway I couldn't wait to put the Invidia back on because I hated how quiet it was. A month or so later I put the Invidia exhaust back on. Within a few start ups the check engine came back on again. I called the dealer up and asked what the problem was and they keep saying that the aftermarket exhaust alters the flow and can set off the CEL light ( basically any small modification could set the CEL light so your better off to leave everything stock )
What I don't get is why didn't it come on when I put it on back in 2010 ?
I was thinking of buying a programmer/tuner so I can alter the air/fuel ratio so it would be just like having the stock exhaust flow but I don't feel like spending $600 just for that.
2nd option was talking to Gordon and seeing if the Invidia was still under warranty. Maybe the inside of the muffler has just had it and there is too much flow through the exhaust
I'd appreciate it if anyone can chime in to help because I don't want to swap my stock one on every time I have to go get a inspection sticker, its just a pain in the butt and I doubt that anyone else is having this problem.

wow. This is not an issue on the 1st gen. Let us know if you find a fix.

which Infiniti dealership are you taking it to ? are they certain that your exhaust is the problem, or are they only telling you that because its aftermarket ? Invidia seems like a very reputable company to have a major problem like this, maybe you could try contacting them also if anyone else has called in for the same reason.

It definitely has something to do with the exhaust. He said he took the exhaust off and the light never came back on. But as soon as he put the exhaust back on the light returned. Didnt you have a problem with that invidia exhaust before with some parts rusting??

So you will need to tune to fix whats up, whether running too lean or rich, most likely? That's strange, an exhaust shouldn't throw a CEL in general, but you are one of the few that has an aftermarket exhaust on a 2G.

Do you have high flow cats? All I ever seen mention of is a cat back. The exhaust should not affect what readings the cats see.

Did you not get a code pulled?

No high flow cats, just the stock ones which never been touched. Apparently the dealer thinks so. They said the exhaust is changing the air fuel readings and aren't at factory spec. I posted a link on this thread on which code it is. The dealer reset everything and it came back once I put the invidia back on.

You posted a link to the What did you do to your FX today thread, and it's 211 pages long...

Finally! My settings are different from yours, so that whole thread is only 211 pages long for me. Next time try linking the actual post instead of just the page.

Could be issues with the O2 sensors themselves. Seems weird that something downstream of the sensor would affect its reading. It seems these are the ones on the manifolds themselves though, so it shouldn't even involve the cats, much less the rest of the exhaust.
