Changing the Mood Lighting in the Door Handles to LED

Lol I didn't even get it today. Trust me man I'm just as pissed as you. For some reason the tracking hasn't updated it was suppose to be delivered on the 5th :at-wits-end:

Haha no worries, I guess the mail is backed up because of the holiday

Just to let you guys know I received the lights today. Installed them and blew blew the fuse. First they would not illuminate then the 10A fuse blew. Need to look into this more. I think the wire isn't sending enough power to light up the new bulbs.

Hmm that's weird, I don't see why it would blow like that

What's the voltage and amp rating on the oem bulb and then on the new LED bulb?

Did the fuse blow when you hooked it up or when you turned on the lights and did you do one or both sides before trying?

Maybe positive/negative ends were switched and that was the issue?

Maybe the soldering/wiring was the issue and not actually the bulb?

Finally fixed this issue. Found out it was just a faulty bulb. Anyways got this working today and I can finally say I'm happy with the results:

It works!:

Tell me if you guys like them! Obviously night time is when they will look the best and I will post night time pictures tonight.

Wow great work on this Aaron, I'm glad it worked as I was itching to get this done ASAP. Where did you get the bulbs from and can you post DIY if possible?

Does that bulb twist back in though like the original bulb? It doesn't look like it from the pics

Here is where I got them from:

One thing I like about these is that they dim like the factory mood lighting. So everything is ok :good: At a $1.14 each their a steal!

Nah it doesn't twist. It doesn't fit like OEM but it works and looks OEM. Nothing else like this will look factory. I've tried a few different options.

Awesome man, thanks for the info bro. So how did you get the bulb to stay in? Double sided tape? You got a DIY perhaps or instructions?

Sure I can make a DIY later. The bulb stayed in by those two little white plastic clips that hold the factory bulb in. You know whats funny the LED's come with double sided tape on them but their pretty useless as it's on the backside.

Nice seems like fairly easy to do huh, did you do all 4 doors?

nice Aaron!

hmmm that's pretty bright...you like how bright it is always being on especially at night?

I'm not liking how bright the floor is and that is with me using the low power bulbs, but I plan to do something about that. So that is why I'm asking about honest thoughts on brightness of these.

Also, how was the soldering?

Looks great but those look way brighter than stock, kind of too bright

Nah their not that bright. What's happening is the camera is making them appear brighter just like what they do to headlights. I'm not good with picture taking so I don't know how to adjust the settings to make it look like what it truly does.

If you buy them and think their too bright you have 2 options:

1. Adjust mood lighting brightness with the brightness button on the dash.

Or

2. You could cover up half the led with some tape so only partial brightness is coming out.

Im happy with the brightness and have no complaints. Their not bright or in your face at all.
