Changing power steering fluid

Hi all,

I just flushed power sterring fluid and it's so easy to do. thanks for instruction. Now i want to flush break fluid, Anyone do this for FX35, Please help.

Thanks all

If you don't have a vacuum pump you will need someone to press on the brake and hold it while you open up the bleeder screw. Repeat this process until you see clean fluid coming out form the bleeder screw. Slip some clear hose over the bleeder screw and let the old fluid dump into a container so you can see when the old fluid in the line is filled with new fluid. Start with the furthest wheel from the brake fluid reservoir and work your way to the closest one. Obviously you would need to jack up the car and take the wheel off, unless you can do it from behind the wheel.

I use this one with an air compressor and it work nice; http://www.harborfreight.com/brake-fluid-bleeder-92924.html
If don't have an air compressor, then you might want to use this, http://www.harborfreight.com/mityvac-vacuum-pump-39522.html. You need to keep an eye on the reservoir and keep it fill as you drawn fluid out of the bleeder screw.

I have a motive pressure bleeder. They run about $60. No air compressor needed, you build up pressure on the bottle and it pushes the fluid out.

For nissans, you will need a FORD 3 prong master cylinder adapter. Its a one man job and works pretty quickly.

I also have that hand vaccum pump, works but a little more work. I mainly use it for my motorcycles now.

Thank you White_Hair for an excellent walk through of this easy procedure. 20 minutes of work and $85 in my pocket. Done and done. Much appreciated.

I'm not sure if I have synthetic or regular fluid in there now. When I do the swap can I use synthetic even if the old fluid isn't. What happens if they mix?

Whats the best type of power steering fluid to use? Right now i have some prestone power steering fluid in my garage. Should i use that, royal purple/ oem? Also heard some people using pennzoil dexron. I know how the process on doing it but what type of fluid do you guys recommend? Thanks.

Just picked up redline synthetic fluid from jegs. Waiting for the weather to warm up a little to change to fluid. Useing a brake bleeding pump to suck out all the fluid.
