changing out the headlight HID

Ok I have another dumb question.... so my 6000k bulbs arrived, I havn't had a chance to install them yet. I popped up the hood just now to see what's ahead. From my understand I have to remove the rubber strip on the side to reach to bulbs? From what i can see the rubber strip runs all the way up the side on the car, do i have to remove the whole thing or just the front part so i can reach in and do the install? The strip is hold down by a stud thingie that can't be screw out, do i just pry it out with force?

Probably not going to install in for a few days but i want to make sure i'm doing it right and not break anything. I think this is going to be another dumb question just like my alst one asking how to twist out the license plate bulbs  please advices guys.

you dont need to remove anything from my understanding
all you need to do is remove the back plastic peice
and then remove the ballast connecter
then there is these to little metal clips you pinch together and it will pop up
and then you can remove the bulbs

black plastic piece on the side? is the one you are talking about rubber? i took a peek under there and I think i see the ballast, my question is can i remove the plastic stud holding on to the rubber piece by force.

i think i know what to do once i see the ballast, just the rubber plastic piece cover the whole side of the hood. I don't want ti take it off only to find out there is a easier way and i spent hours trying to fit the piece back on.

ok i guess pictures speaks a million word. Here's the part in question

from what the pics look like you would most likely need to remove all the plastic in order to get to the bulbs

Just use upward force.. Or use a flat head as a level., the closest you get to the tabs the better it will be.. Once you are done it should snap right back in.,

Also I'm not a pro at pulling things apart.. But from my mistakes I learn that if you want to do it right.. Just take everything that is on the way of you and the job you want to perform.. It will be way easier and you will be getting a perfect job..

alright i did it i change out the HID.

now there is a faint yellow light that is on at the same time as the headlights, I can't figure out where that bulb is? i want it out! its ruining the nice white light :(

I dont recall how the 2nd generation lights look like - but on the first generations theres the DTRL bulbs that look yellowish when on - a lot of us have changed them out for LED bulbs to match the HID's a bit more.

yes i think that's what it is. anybody got a picture of where is located and what the socket looks like even if its for the first gen so i know what to look for.

alright i found the DTRL bulb, don't have a replacement for it and from what i have read its almost impossible to match it to the 6k HID anyways so i just took the bulbs out and plug the socket back in. It looks soooooo much nicer now. I find myself keep on looking back at the lights after i park the car, so much that my gf thinks i'm crazy.

I'm going to write up a how-to in a few days when i have time. does is have a specific section i should put the how to? the other forum has sepereate section for both the gen 1 and gen 2 i think its easier to find what one needs that way.

I couldn't take any good pictures, I hope the mods don't mind me using somebody else pics from the other forums's how to section for the gen 1 in combination with the ones i did take.
