Changed Fog Lights, Now Normal Headlights Not Working Properly

Hi all,

I got my auto body shop to change the fog lights on my 2007 Infiniti FX 35 and when driving home I noticed an issue with the lighting.

My car is Canadian BTW, in Canada, the 'off' setting is supposed to have daytime running lights on (FYI)

All the lighting is working fine on my drivers side. When the lights are 'off' the daytime running lights are on, when I turn on the HID's, the HID's come on.

There's issues with the passenger light. When the setting is 'off' the daytime running light is not working. Then when I turn on the HID, the daytime running light comes on, but no HID.

Fog lights are working fine though..

Any idea on what the body shop could have done to have this happen? Was working fine before hand.

Thanks

sounds like both your dtrl bulb and hid bulb / ballast is burnt out. On our fx's, the DTRL has basically 2 settings in 1 bulb. During the day, the brighter mode comes on. At night, the dimmer mode comes on.

Hey guys...need help!! So after a 3 month ordeal with Stillen I finally got my car back today after having a Stage 2 SC installed.
During the process Stillen blew out my ECU and had to source a new ECU. Everything in the car works fine except now
I have no headlights, high beams or fogs. I'm thinking it's just the fuses....can anyone point me to where the fuses
are located? This has been a nightmare and I finally got the car back but now I can't drive at night!!

Guys...so I checked the headlight hi/lo fuses in the box behind the battery and none of them are blown. Is it possible it's the relays? Please
help!! I have no lights on the car and thought it was the fuses.

fuse.webp

The low / high / fogs are on 3 seperate relays. You can try testing them.

I would also contact stillen and let them compensate you in some way, rental or fix.

The quick easy way is have someone turn on the headlight while you put your finger over the relay, you should feel a click as it turns on. Do that for each relay.

Thx Andy...I do hear a click when I try to put on the high beams but no light output comes on. I don't hear any clicking when I put on
the normal headlights or the fogs. If not the fuses or the relays what could it be then?

Did you check if they reconnected the fogs and hl's?

Yeah they said they never removed the headlights...they didn't need to. Only removed the bumper and I checked underneath and the
fogs are plugged in and the headlights are too.

The low beams and fogs relays don't procedure a high volume click when they are engaged. The high beams on the other than produces a really noticeable click sound.
If you hear the click, that means the signal wire is working as intended. The next step is to check the input power and output power. Simple to check the output power by putting a volt meter on the high beam plug at the head light housing.

Went to Infiniti today to try to get new relays....I mentioned the high beam was clicking and the Tech verified and said the relays are good and the fuses were good and there was power. He said it might be an internal failure in the IPDM unit which is big money to fix. Gonna have to bring the car back to Stillen....FML

That sucks. Hope Stillen will take care of the problem. Damien, you should have shipped your car to me for the SC install. :sneaky:

How the heck do you fry the IPDM module.
Did they use the frame of the car to ground while welding and not disconnect the battery?

I have no idea what they did...but the tech (who was really nice and knew his stuff) said he has seen this before and you may have to replace the whole module. He said he has done a few Stillen SC installs and even said the work they did was sloppy. He even soldered together some wires for me for no charge....Metro Infiniti is the best.

Andy...you know I thought about doing that before and flying out there to meet the Chicago crew. I REALLY wish I did that now.

Finally got car back from Stillen yesterday...they ended up having to replace the IPDM box with a new one from the dealer and
also had to replace both my headlight bulbs. But at least everything is working properly now!! What an ordeal that was.....unbelievable.

Good to hear that she back home Damien. Now some engine bay shots and a nice video of that Stillen SC2 in action will be cool
