Car Wash Ruined my Hood!

I'm so mad!

Last night I decided to take my car to the car wash (one which I seldom go to and haven't had any issues with in the past) for a quick exterior wash.

Once I got back home, and parked my car in my garage, I noticed some heavy duty swirl marks on my hood which were never there before! I'm pretty pissed off about that, because I know they did that. Now I have three questions for you guys:

1) Is it worth going back to the car wash and telling them about this? Maybe they can wax it off?

2) Will the self healing clear coat fix this? The car hasn't been under the sun since then (and it's not hot right now). I know that the self healing clear coat works under the sun to heal some the scratches/swirl marks.

3) I will definitely have to wax the swirl marks off in the springtime or summer time. But will I need to do a specific compound waxing job for the paint (since it has the special self healing clear coat)?

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Thanks guys!

The car wash that you went to, is it the touchless kind or soft cloth?

If it was the softcloth, chances are it was the cause. Especially in the winter time, its got a nice collection of dirt/salt/grime from other cars and its just being swiped across your car :(

First off stop taking your car to those crappy car wash places, and start washing yourself. I advise that you do some reading on proper car washing techniques to insure your car won't be swirled by future washing:

Next you keep asking if you wax it will it make the swirl marks go away. No waxing does not make swirls go away. Wax is a means of protection, not a swirl remover. It only temporarily hides "some" swirls. After a while it will look crappy again. If you want to
remove swirls you need a paint polish.

Oh and the scratch shield clear coat is a joke. It doesn't really work like Infiniti makes it out to be. Don't take it back to the car wash. They will call themselves buffing the car and fixing it, when in reality they will make it even worse. I'd make them pay you to take it to a professional well known detailer that knows what he is doing and will properly buff the car and remove the swirls.

+1 with fire and the car wash will blame it on you jut cause its been a day.

Ok I agree with Fire....
It was a hand car wash place....I would have washed the car myself, but it's WAY TOO COLD to wash it outside in this weather (-35C)!!!!!
Summertime I always wash it myself, no one else can wash it with as much love as I do!

BTW, Fire0nic3, do you have any links where I can find a good paint polish online, and how to polish it myself? That would be very much appreciated!

Thanks for the advice guys!
