Car bucks when hitting 6,000rpm

How any extra hp do you get out of a different air filter setup? I am wondering if it is even worth the extra.

Really depends, if you are pulling in cold air W/out resistance the short answer would be yes. Generally he more performance work you do to the engine the more a CAI or better breather intake becomes effective, as a standalone mod it will not do much. I originally dropped in the K&N OE air filter replacement and considered it to NOT be worth the money.

+1. I have actually recorded better results on an otherwise stock car by replacing the accordion plastic tubing with a straight piece and leaving the stock airbox intact.

Well yesterday I took it in to have them install the MAF sensor. The mechanic took it for a ride, it stopped acting up but he heard a Pop-Pop...Pop and says the coil packs now need replacement. They broke the news that I would need to leave my FX there to do the work Monday while the vehicle is cold. I was pretty torn on leaving it. They gave me a G37x as a loaner car. Nice car, but its not my FX. I will say that the G is one fast car (quick pickup). Seems to have a lot more shwoop than my FX. Hopefully this solves the issue.

Funny, when I've gotten a G and a EX for a loaner they both felt so slow to me. If you like more power, next get the FX50.

The G 0-60 is really good compared. Either way my FX has plenty of power for me now and I can't wait to get it back. I never thought I would have an Infiniti loaner car and still be going "meeeeh".

I got my car back today, and it seems to be cured. They swapped out plugs, miss still was happening. Removed and replaced coils with known good ones, miss still happening. They then called the techline, who advised to monitor fuel pressure and both intake timing solenoids, no problems were found. They did capture a miss in the data monitor record, 1200rpm fluctuation while miss occured. They replaced the crankshaft position sensor and the problem is now gone.

We took the car for a test ride, I got it to act up luckily, and back to the garage we went. He hooked up the computer, it read upwards of 115%, meaning it was running rich while at idle. He connected a test MAF sensor and it dropped to the level it should be of 103% give or take 1 or 2 %. They had to order one, I go back Friday for the install. He said the big thing they see lately is with the new G models which have 2 air intakes, with 2 MAF sensors and then the owner installs K&N type filters, over oil them, and it damages the MAF sensors. He said it really is not worth the tiny bit of hp you may get.

I'd just like to point out that this "oil on the maf sensor" theory was in fact not the problem. Still never seen any actual proof that it even happens...

You may have been right, but I do not have one of those oil type filters. It just came up in conversation when talking about having to replace the MAF sensor.
