Cams usually move the powerband to the right, so reving higher is a good idea to make the most of the cams. Valvetrain should be fine til 7k or so, if you are doing the work yourself might as well consider doing a high compression pistons and replacing the rods.

Parts even if you are doing the labor for free is going to rival a vortech which will still yield more power. G/Zs struggle to make 300 whp na, a vortech even with the smallest pulley will make over 300 easily.
 
i wanted to make it all motor but if you say imma spend the same amount as a vortech mine as well get a vortech then or i could keep it all motor and just leave the stock cams . what would u say would be everything i could get to be all motor without wasting so much cash that i could rather get a vortech ?
 
For NA power you would want to go towards a high compression rebuild. Pistons, rods, bearings. Machine work for overbore. That's just the bottom end. Cams, valvetrain, headwork to rev higher.

Add in NA power relies heavily on the whole system including exhaust flow. Headers, high flow cats, or test pipes and you end up with a fairly loud car for maybe 30-50hp depending on the dyno.

Forced induction is bang for buck especially a supercharger. You don't need to sacrifice as much but get more gains.

There's a cost of admission for either way you go. If you can perform a good portion of the work yourself FI will makes more sense. Most people can't install FI kits, let alone internals. If you can do either one, FI makes more sense.

Got it. im not planning on doing anything major upgrade to the engine now but for sure in the future just trying to do my homework trying to figure out what im finally gonna do . i guess FI is the way to go . best bang for the buck . thanks so much rookie :tup:
 
Anytime you open up the engine it becomes a should/would/could with parts. If you can be happy with 350ish than a bolt on centrifugal will be fine. HP is addictive, believe me. :eek.: I stopped chasing power a while ago.
