Cam sensor

After finally getting around to changing my valve covers (went with the aluminum ones), i neglected to change out the cam sensors (face palm) and well now one of them is being stubborn. Its the bank 1 exhaust sensor... i wasnt sure but assumed that the exhaust one would be the outer one? So in this case it would be the passenger side (bank 1) and the one closest to the fender? i know i should replace both but the parts stores don't have any hitachi brand ones in stock and just want a temp fix with a substitute for now till i can order the better ones and i'll just replace them all then.

So after replacing the bad one, I'm now getting a p0014 - cam sensor timing over or advanced ... wonder if this means it's a faulty sensor? I do need to refill some of the lost oil so I guess that could be it?

Edit* I noticed that that code is from the cam solenoid and not the sensor. Once i figured that, i unplugged and replugged in that wire since i did have it removed after cahnging the valve covers. Removed codes, drove it for about 30 minutes while monitoring both solenoids (not sure how much they are suppose to fluctuate from each other) and so far no codes..

Heres the weird part. The last time or two the p0014 code popped up, i didn't get a cat code which is the one i've had since getting the vehicle (was too cold to do exhaust replacements) It would be pretty odd if the cat efficiency code i was getting was related to whats been happening here. Just really bizzare that code stopped popping up. Only thing i can think of is maybe oil was leaking into the intake (before swapping covers) causing that? The runners did have an old oil layer which i cleaned up. (also the reason i did the covers first *suspicion*)

Another update... the code came back for the cam so I went to take it out to clean it and well... it came out in a few pieces . Ordered two new ones and now will be waiting in hopes it's just the solenoid and not the magnetic retarder too. Just a pain to take off the housing. I also have to torch it a bit to get the last bit of shell out of there and try using a fitting bolt to thread in an yank it out
