hey all,
i have the k40 window-mounted k40 radar detector.....but

on tuesday i have an appointment to have the k40 UNDETECTABLE stealth radar/laser detector/diffuser installed. http://www.k40.com/unde_main.html

the detectors mount wirelessly in the front and rear of your vehicle, offering maximum protection against the popo

the interior however, you use 2 LED's, and theres two little knobs. i'm mounitng the knobs under the dash, but i havent decided where i watn to put the LED's. i was thinking in the cluster like in the pic on the site, or in the air vent to the left of the steering column. anybody have any ideas where to put them? :xd:

btw i think you have to deactivate the lane departure system or whatever in order for the laser detector not to go off 24/7, am i right? is so? should we just snip-snip some wires or is there a way to shut it off otherwise? thanks!

Jordan - do you have the dvd system in the rear??? if you dont, you dont have the lane departure system. The LDS only comes with the dvd package.

LDWS uses a camera, ICC uses lasers. you may be getting these mixed up. you would know if you have LDWS, it beeps all the time at you.

Lane Departure Warning System has a little camera in the rear view mirror that sees the dashes that seperate lanes. when it senses that you have started drifting towards these lines it beeps at you and flashes on the dash. not sure how it would use lasers.

 I don't know what I was thinking....oh ya I was thinking about the adaptive cruise control:2smile: located on the front lower bumper that uses lasers.

ya, now that stuff will affect laser detectors, because it is always on even if you arent using it, so it will set off laser detectors all the time. apparently it also preps your car for a collision if it detects an object you are moving towards rapidly that isnt moving.

UPDATED WITH PICS!
the laser thing doesnt seem to be set off by that brake assist, as of now.

time to test this baby out tonight!

I have a Beltronics rx65, I was wondering if they made a add-on for front and rear laser sensor. But looks like I need the RX75 (pricey ~$1000 MSRP, ~$1500 for laser blocking)

mine cost 1650:embarrassed:
but its good to have especially for me

Dude Im gonna quite my job and start cleaning pools.......Nice mod Jordan.
Dont get into too much trouble......remember, just cuz you had a radar detector doesnt mean you can get into trouble. Radar Detectors only work when they are using radar to catch you. They have other means.:top:

+1
I always look at my mirrors to check for the poe poe.
And if you are in a rural area, look for 'da plane' or the shadow it casts.
...cops can always go old school and pace you, so mirrors are very important.:top:

well i have radar detector/diffuser, laser detector/diffuser, mirrors, and common sense ( for the most part). i've only been pulle dover once and it was for "taking a turn to fast" which resulted in no ticket....oh yeah and for going twice the speedlimit but unclocked so it cancelled out :err:

but yeah, i decided to use some of my savings on this cuz its actually important, you know? i mean i could go spend the same on a new plenum or smething but i feel this is mor eimnportant for now, and besides, going TT in the winter!

$1650? gee.... I think I'll just stick with my Beltronics RX65 for now, and if it ever fail me, I'll opt for traffic school.... you see some of the cutest chicks in traffic school anyway...

but actually, I've been behaving pretty good behind the wheel... only because it actually makes the difference in MPGs when you're lite on the pedal
