Does anyone know where i can purchase OEM TMPS for my FX35, Im trying to purchase some in case i end up getting a set of 22" rims or for the 20" rims that im waiting on. Im trying to not take out the ones i have on my 18" so i can have them ready for an emergency.

it's def worth it to take the ones out of the 18's, it'll save you hundreds over buying new ones & then paying to reprogram them, PLUS at that point your originals wouldn't even be programmed to your fx anymore too, so it would then cost you almost $100 more just to put them back anyway..., just remove them from the 18's & stick regular valves back in them to keep them just as ready for an emergency, they'll be no more ready by sitting there with a set of tpms that aren't even synced to your fx anymore.

This is an excellent advice that I didn't think about.....

So you cant have two sets of wheels, each with TPMS, both programmed to your car?

If you get different size wheels, will they have to be reprogrammed base on the different size?

1) No. The only way I can think of is to have the 2nd set of TPMS have the same exact frequency code as the 1st set, not sure if that's possible.

2) No. Has nothing to do with TPMS, you would have to reprogram the ECU, something to do with the speed calculation so the speedo shows the correct speed.

be sure to re-service the valve stems and seals. or you could end up with a leak and the dealership will say you need a brand new TPMS (instead of a $5 part + labor fix).

So when people, like yourself, change out their wheels they reprogram their ECU to recognize the TPMS? Is this what you have done? What is the cost for this, do you go to the dealer?

Your car computer is synced to a certain frequency code. Once it finds that, it can read the tire pressure.

The TPMS is set to give off a certain code/frequency, all are unique. That code is scanned by the scanner tool, then that exact code is uploaded into the ECU.

Change out TPMS, it is still searching for your old code/frequency it is linked to.

Cost is anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour of labor. It takes 5 minutes for a tech if they have done it at least once before. Scan each wheel, then connect laptop to OBII. Done.

I used to do the dealership "trick" where I get like a $29.99 special for rotating wheels/tires. Then after they get it down on paper, I say, oh make sure the TPMS are reading.

Now my local mechanic has the tool and he typically charges customers 30 minutes of labor.

coorect me if im wrong but since i got the sync the computeur with the sensor i install in the wheel i can put any kind of tpms. I find a nice set of acura mdx tpms really cheap
