Buying my first FX35 advice

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to these forums and new to the world of Infiniti, however, i'm looking to buy my first FX and wanted to see if i could get some advice. As much as i would love to buy a new one, i just cannot afford it. After about 4 months of searching, i've come across a 2003 FX35 w/ sports package, sunroof, Bose premium sound, roof rack, all wheel drive, etc.. no navi. The car has 53000 miles on it and has a clean carfax. It has only had 1 owner. (apparently very close work commute hence the low miles.) The owner is asking $16,000 for the car. Do you think this is a good deal? Should i worry that the car is nearly 9 years old? It looks very clean inside and out. Is there anything bad about that particular model year i should be concerned about?

Thanks again!

Sounds like a really good deal. I know it's an 03 but loaded and has only 53000 miles. I have an 04 and no issues whatsoever. Buy it and happy modding

i think it's a good deal. A little old but there aren't many miles and think these machines will last a long time.

I have recently got 2008 FX35 and I traded in my 2005 subaru legacy. Clean carfax does not mean anything because when I took my car in, my carfax was clean and I had an accident ~2yr ago, also I got hail damage which I cash in my check from insurance. Just have the car check thoroughly before you buy.

kpaaav, the price seems about average, but it has low miles, so that's nice. But....if you do plan on keeping the car longterm, do more research and wait. If I could do it over again I would. I bought mine mainly because I wanted Liquid Copper and it was pretty impulsive and did not do enough research. I don't have nav/tech and I wish I had waited for one. After being here a while and familiarizing myself with the FX, I would find one with brick interior and get the FX45 too. So think about it for a bit and make sure you really want this particular FX, options and color combo. There will be plenty of 2003-05 outs in that price range, with more options too. Good luck with your decision!

Thanks for all the great advice everyone. I finally decided to wait a bit longer, so I am still on the search for my FX. It was really the fact that the car was almost 9 years old that bothered me. I figure I will just wait a little bit longer, spend a little more money, and get a newer one with more of the color and package options that I am looking for.

What is the main difference in the FX35 and FX45 besides the engine? The 35 itself seems to be fine when it comes to performance and I don't plan on towing anything. Any specific reason why I should opt for the 45 rather than the 35?

Thanks again.
