buying a used car with extended warranty

Is there a way to tell if a used vehicle already has the extended warranty on it? Other than just asking the dealer? I do plan on buying the extended warranty (if it doesn't already have it) and I don't want to buy it and then find out that the vehicle already had it and the dealer just got a couple thousand dollars out of me.

Also, isnt there a fee to transfer an extended warranty from someone else to you? Like $50 dollars or something?

How old is the FX you are planning to buy? Most FX I believe are 6year/60k miles warranty at least that's how my FX was. They should let you know if your still under warranty.

If ur getting the used vehicle from a dealership, then I am afraid u have no options but to ask them abt it. the previous owner could have bought a 3rd party extended warranty but I would not count on that still being available. Extended warranty from the manufacturer for this and that part of the car is one thing but you're definitely gona have to pay for the extended warranty on the car. Y don't u look for certified used vehicles? Much better options. As for the transfer fee, the shouldnt charge you anything, courtesy I would ask for.

I am looking at 2009-10 models. At first I was just looking at Certified Pre-Owned because I knew they came with a 100,000 mile warranty. But I am so picky, and I cant find the exact color with everything that I want on it, so I have broadened my search to all used FX35's. I am still having a hard time finding the perfect one though.

Have you searched thru like autotrader.com and maybe do a search thru there where u can choose different criteria to search like colors and stuff like that. What exactly are you looking for?

How long are you planning on keeping the vehicle? If not long, and considering the mileage isn't too high, a warranty may stil be good till 60k and even if thre isn't a warranty on it, it isn't really that necessary getting one, since the car is fairly new...

I am planning on keeping the car at least 3-4 years. I drive about 30,000 miles a year. I didnt know that you could specify color on autotrader. I will have to check that out

The Inifiniti Elite Warranty is transferrable to a new owner. It takes you to 7 years or 100K miles. I would have the dealer do a search on the car you find to see if one was activated on it. I doubt the dealer would tell you may not even know if it has one off the bat. Something you would certainly need to inquire about and is likely hit or miss per vehicle.
