Burning Oil

wassup guys

wanted to know if anyone is burning oil in here?

I just did my oil change at 5k miles and pulled out only 2.5 quarts of mobil synthetic

we added a quart a week ago so im burning quite an amount.

so im gonna monitor it now with the fresh oil n see if im burning a good amount every 1k miles.

car runs fine no problems we actually put 10w-30 in and im getting a lot more miles now according to the mpg on the screen.

I got 120k miles
 
It's not a common problem, but it can happen. How long did you go between oil changes? Our FX's never had the rev-up so we didn't have the oil consumption issues some G's and Z's had. But sometimes things just get old.

you're saying you get better gas mileage?
 
I've got 120k miles on my fx too and it's burning somewhere between 0.5 to 1 quart every 1500 miles. I use regular 5w30 and change oil every 3500 miles. I'm going to look into replacing my valve cover one day. I heard oil leaks there as our cars age
 
Bringing this older topic back. I just changed oil for the first time on this FX35 and only drained about 3 qts.

Looks like I'll be trying some 10W30 at the next change.
 
alot of times the oil gets sucked into the intake manifold and burned off there if you had a catch can you can see how much gets collected.

ive heard vq's love 5-40 wt oil. ive only been using 0-40 or 5-40 castrol or rotella t6 but would not use this if you high mileage
