Wrapped and Bagged
Is the PCV delete what we need to reduce oil consumption? I was thinking about doing the PCV delete and breater kit instead of an oil catch can

Yes.

It won't kill oil consumption completely, but it will reduce it. Bonus is that it will stop oil from entering your intake manifold area, and getting into the combustion chambers. Oil doesn't burn well so that causes power drops and isn't good for a motor overall. It achieves a similar effect to a catch can, if you aren't going turbo or FI then a breather kit is the dead easy reliable way to achieve this. If you are FI or plan on it, you will need an actual catch can to maintain a closed system.

There is one important thing to watch for with this type of kit though, and just prudent to check overall. There is a little drain back in the valve cover, it's important to make sure that doesn't get clogged. Here is a video showing the kit, the drainback I am talking about is shown around the 3:45 mark:

Cool build man! The engine bay is a rabbit hole, you start taking stuff out, moving stuff around, shiny this makes things not shiny get at you. OCD kicks in!

If you ever rebuild the wheels get the inners in some kind of coating. Raw inners are tough to keep clean, powdercoated with a clear is a so easy to just wipe down.

Thanks brother, means more than you know coming from you.

Aside from a few things I am going to do ahead of time for the engine build, I am almost at the point where I am just stock piling parts waiting for the day I pull the engine build it outside the car and reassemble.

The wheels are getting rebuilt this winter, Inner Barrels are being powdered Matte Black, cause yes, they are impossible to keep clean.

I had my HREs gloss black inner before, it was like black paint showed surface scratches very easy. Grime and stuff stick and you have to be careful when cleaning. Lighter color gloss colors are much more forgiving with visible surface scratches.

That's why I was thinking about the Matte Black, thought it would be a little more resitant to scratches. It's funny you mention lighter colour, I thought about finishing the inner in a blue colour something like this:

Was going to post a big update, only to log online and notice that photobucket are scam artists and want 400 bucks for third party hosting now. So all the pictures in this thread are butt fucked, as well as on my hometown Forum.

I'm going to be updating the entire thread, but pretty frustrating. For now I guess I'll leave this;

nGFNtf2.jpg

Went down to Vegas last month. Couldn't help but stop by some friends at speedvegas and take a couple exotics for a rip.

Pictures should still be up, I installed an image converter to attachments a few months back so all images posted on our site should be attached.

You are absolutely right, I wasn't paying enough attention, that's fantastic.

Super overdue update, Lots of minor things, and lots of tweaking of previous things done to the car. As with anything I do my best to do everything right the first time around, but this car has evolved to the point now that I can't possibly anticipate how certain things will work with one another. So I do what I can, and then there is shakedown periods where I will come back and button certain things up, or change something to better suit what I want. It's a constant evolution.

Over the winter there was certain things I wanted to tackle:

First big thing was the wheels. There were marks on the wheels from before I even got them, so they needed a refinish. I opted to go for a matte gunmetal face, with Gloss Black inner and outer lip. So the wheels were completely dissembled, blasted, and powdercoated. Hardware was all tumble polished and then the wheels were re-assembled, tires mounted, and I had them coated with Gtechniq which is similar a brand of ceramic coating.

Next up was mounting the new coolant overflow and PS bottle:

NrTrP5L.jpg

The power steering bottle can be attached onto a factory captive nut used for a ground strap. However I had to add a nutsert for the coolant bottle to situate it where I wanted. Overall install is pretty straightforward, you will need new PS hosing. These are nice pieces, and I love the custom look.

2lqSaj1.jpg

Right now the coolant bottle sits higher than the PS one, I cant decide if I should lower the coolant bottle or lift the PS tank. So I've just left it for now.

Next one was these:

ndYFHFt.jpg

I F*UCKING HATE these. So I have chosen to get rid of them from wherever I can. Which as it turns out is quite a few places. I started off with the grill mounting ones, I just used M6x1.00 Nutserts:

eKDoiCi.jpg

Throw em in a rivet gun and have at 'er. Most of the holes are usually a little undersized for the nutserts so I use either a unitbit, or a drill bit to widen them out:

AWxiPyF.jpg

Ended up like this:

zKO3QaS.jpg

You can also see in the picture above a different grill. I picked this one up off of Soonster. It's good if I'm going on a trip or something and I don't want to damage my badgeless grill, this is a nice option.

I did also try installing this:

emhqC8E.jpg

However I had a problem with the wiring, and it would just kick on whenever the battery was connected. Irrelevant of the key position or anything. So I took it off until I can figure out what is going on there.

At this point is was into summer, and I had been away for work and stuff, and hadn't driven the car hardly at all for 8 months. I had a trip to vegas and LA planned, and for the hell of it decided to drive. I drive a lot for work, and it's honestly nothing to me, pretty easy for me to relax and do a few thousand miles. With that said, having my FX only made the entire thing that much better. When I drive for work, it's in one of my work trucks, and while it's nice not needing to worry about the truck hardly at all, I truly do appreciate driving the FX.

I do have some pictures, but not many on me where I am, so I will post some more later, but for now, at the Aria:

X7mXcRo.jpg

It was hot:

R13kYhL.jpg

That's 120 Fahrenheit for you my American friends. The FX didn't even hiccup.

In LA getting In'N'out:

Some serious murder:

kkxAQXa.jpg

Overall the trip was great, went to Vegas through Idaho, then over to LA to see some family, up to San Fran, up the coast to Oregon, into Portland and then back up home. Took about 2 weeks. Unfortunately that's all the time I had with work, but it was still good. Best of all not a single issue with the FX, save for bolt from one of the rear undertrays an oil change technician didn't put back, so somewhere along the highway near Malibu I had to pull off and replace that bolt to keep the under tray from dragging. Luckily I heard it right away and no harm done. Also no tickets which was a plus, driving through Idaho was a highlight with that 80mph speed limit. I was easily doing 100mph and I was barely even passing others.

In the end:

lxbh9ll.jpg

So that's about 3700 miles.

When I got back home, there was more parts and things I tried to knockoff the to-do list. I was back to dailying the FX for whatever I could during the nice summer months.

Got myself a Kuda Mount:

aMnsEhg.jpg

Super straightforward install, takes less than 10 minutes. And I'm impressed at how well it fits and works. Its not a complicated thing, but hey that's the beauty of it. It just works.

p5OsJ4y.jpg

Using the kuda for my Accuair Controller, and the Panavise for my phone or LED Controller.

Around this time I finally got around to installing the AVS Vent Visors I bought so long ago. I was torn about this one, but I decided to see how I felt about them once on:

Before:

MB8zy1H.jpg

After:

6ElcGj0.jpg

They are certainly nice pieces, they fit good as long as you take some time to install them straight and perfect. I'm keeping them for now.

I was sick of these junk fuse holders:

Ovrc6b7.jpg

and I wanted an easy way to trigger off the air system and sound system if parked for extended time. So I bought a couple circuit breakers:

HSrApjW.jpg

These Bluesea CB's are beauty's. Work like a charm and tough as hell. Cleaned up the wiring put some lugs on the end of the wires from the battery, and Installed:

DXuwZqf.jpg

This is also when I decided to nutsert a whole bunch more in the engine bay and clean everything. So I took the hood off for the first time in this cars life:

od3K6Qu.jpg

I ended up doing nutserts for all the wiper cowl mounting points, and for the battery and brake reservoir covers:

arO0uEB.jpg

vLTfSSr.jpg

So these will all get fender washers when I manage to grab another 15 or so of them. So many plastic push pin things gone...!

Also I cleaned the underside of my hood so nicely:

Mkr1s5n.jpg

and the engine bay as well:

bJnwxUi.jpg

I polished up all the bits with this:

mHGT9Jj.jpg

AND FINALLY just a couple weeks ago, my old steering wheel:

mgVtYON.jpg

Came out, to be replaced with this:

2IhEmLm.jpg

Totally impulse purchase from a G35 that was parting out his car. This is a totally one off custom steering wheel that was reshaped and wrapped in custom leather and carbon fiber. The cruise control and audio controls were also done in real CF. It's honestly a joy to hold this wheel, I love the flat bottom, I love the reshaped sides. I love the finger grooves in the back. With the paddle shifters it's just the cherry on top.

I think that's about it. As always my shelf of parts waiting for install grows, and I'm always adding to the list of stuff I want to do. Side skirts are the biggest priority. I hate the black that low down. So that will be something I tackle this winter, I already have a sent of Nis-rookie G35 sedan side skirts that I am looking to take to a body shop to cut and modify to fit the FX. Not gonna be cheap with the cost of labor near me though. Anyway.

Cosworth wasn't in bad shape overall, but needed a polish, so I got to work:

When I first saw this yesterday I thought, did this guy use one of my photos? The green painters tape on the manifold. Gotta use this hard line delete. Great idea.

I've done a handful of things. I never really update this properly.

Most notably:

41599603982_ae53808ce9_h.jpg2018 Revscene Spring Meet by Dylan King, on Flickr

New rear bumper, with Quad Exhaust tips. The bumper is from Kazuyuki a Japanese FX owner who unfortunately was in an accident with his Beautiful FX45. I reached out to him when he posted it up, and we managed to come to an agreement. I can't thank him enough for everything he did for getting me the bumper, and he's the most straight up and upstanding person. Communication between him and I was hard, basically on Instagram, with me using google translate and a japanese friends help. LOL.

The bumper is a factory FX bumper, cut just below the rear reflectors, and fused with a 2015 Maserati Granturismo bumper. The work is impeccable. It looks totally factory, even from the inside of the bumper. Impressive stuff seriously.

Exhaust work was done by a wizard here in Vancouver with a ship Called MDA Fabrication. He killed it with the new quad tip setup.

Lots of people ask me, and I don't really care either way, so I can share it on here in case anyone is wondering, between the purchase of the bumper, shipping, import/duties/taxes, exhaust work, and wrapping. The total cost is probably right around $4000. Did I think it was going to be that much when I started? No, but it's not totally out of the realm of where I thought it would be, and I am still super pleased with the outcome.

That looks really good meme. It's only money. Hate to point out the obvious, but is the color off a tick? How bout a sound clip of the exhaust?

Yep, the colour is off a hair. Just the reality of the wrap being ~3 years old on the rest of the car and fresh on the rear bumper. It will actually dull out after sitting in the sun a little, and a couple washes. Colour change is likely coming next winter anyway, I've wanted to change it away from Matte for a long time, however all these little body work items are keeping me from it. The last item before I re-wrap the whole car is the new side skirts and some body work on the lower door moldings. Once that is done expect to see a new wrap job.

In terms of sound the car really just sounds like the regular invidia exhaust, sound didn't really change. I have a pair of HFC's to install, that will change the noise level some.

Bumper cover looks very good on there. Would like to see a closeup of the setup underneath & how you welded on.
& The wrap has held up great

New side skirts finally done.

Took a top 20 at Tuner Evolution in portland:

YT6vZ9V.jpg

Dont even remember what's on the list to try and tackle next (its not gotten any shorter however), always a few dozen things under the engine bay I want to do, finally ready to rewrap the entire car now that the side skirts are done, that will have to be in the fall.
