breaks making noise!

hey guys i live in southern maryland (waldorf) my fx has 44k miles on it and the breaks have been making a noise, not a sqeek but i think the pads might be low. my main question is should i take it to the dealership and get charged an arm and leg or does anyone know any good places to go around this area??? thanks -z-

you can call around the shops in your area.... check the big book with numbers in it
It may also be a good time for you to find a trusted mechanic for all your needs (oil changes, etc)
