Hi all,
I had to join this great forum just to tell you guys/gals how much your posts has saved me in fixing my wife's 08 FX35. A few weeks ago, she got the dreaded shake coming home from work and I had to go and rescue her off the side of the road during rush hour traffic (on a Friday no doubt). Went back later to try and limp the car home and it only made it a couple of miles down the road before it just totally gave out and wouldn't go any further. My guess was she dropped 2 ignition coils the first time and when I tried to drive it home, it dropped 2 more, hence the loss of power. Replaced the 4 coils and changed all the spark plugs as well as cleaning out the throttle body and she was back on the road again. I noticed a loss in the normal growl from the exhaust note and upon further research decided the catalytic converters had failed due to the bad coils (fuel being dumped and burning off in the cats caused the cats to get glowing red). Another week of trying to figure out a solution to paying out the nose for new cats (at least $500 each for OEM). Come back here again and find out the emissions warranty is 8 yrs/80,000 miles. We were good until 2016 but the car has 79,400 miles on her. So we have an appt. with the dealer on Friday to get those done ASAP. Again, thanks to all of you for this wealth of information and looking forward to add my own input to help others.:smile (2):

Aftermarket HFC's would have cost about $400 for the pair. I replaced my oem cats with kinetix hfc's (carb legal) a few years back.

Welcome to iS. What's with the handle? ;-)

Welcome!

No, it will not throw any codes, i have just broken mine inn and loving it... got it for $340 from Kinetix....

Thanks for the welcomes. I'll have to look into the HFC's if the dealer gives me problems replacing the stockers for free.
